Kirk Larson Needs Suggestions Ultimate Training Center The Dream
Since you have seen just about every kind of figure made by anyone in plastic, I thought you or your readers might be able to point me in the right direction.
I have been considering how I would like my ultimate “training center” set up to look, and decided it would be essential to show troops doing physical training en masse. I have not been able to land on a suitable 54 to 60mm figure of a running /jogging man that I can get in quantity. I’m looking for a pose that is running, upright, in shorts and short sleeves, or as an alternative, a US soldier running at high port arms. Do you know of any off brand makers or sets that might have something like that? I would guess that there might be a European footballer pose out there somewhere that would work.

On another note, you may recall when I asked for help looking for a Processed Plastics space sword from the late 1970s. So far no luck from this blog or FB. This is my holy grail project. My new question is if you know or know someone who would know how to obtain info on the workings of Processed Plastics back then? My first guess would be Jeff Imel who got hold of all those Timmee molds and is doing reissues. I’m always grateful for any help.

So we need to figure out if there are any figures out to meet his needs. Let use heaqr your thoughts.
The soldiers joga set making exercise are suitable x this. They come first in NYC toy fare and admin post here.
Many generic spirt figures cutting heads and put head w army hats too.
Using FFL modern poses from Timpo swoppet or Cofalu in shorts by taking off weapon too.
My quick thoughts.
Best
Sport not spirt.LOL

Airfix did Soccer players. I don’t know if they have been recast though. They also have late 60’s early 70’s haircuts and sideburns. No military buzz cuts.
Have a look at the SOCCER Playset done by KASKEY KIDS.

This has 10 each of the two most useable poses for your idea, plus the Referee might work as an instructor. Obviously you will want to repaint them in more Military colours. They also used to do the 12 man teams as Blister cards, in different colour strips but I can’t find a listing for them now.
This company also does FOOTBALL and BASEBALL playsets, should you wish to field a Regimental team or have an ARMY/NAVY game setup.
Also check on Ebay under ‘soccer player figures cake toppers’ for a ‘Made in China’ 9 figure set with 4 players , 2 goal keepers, 1 referee, 2 goals. They would have to be adapted but they are cheap and buying several sets might work for you. There is another set but it is not so good as it has the energetic poses from the old AIRFIX set.
Marx did a guy running in shorts and a tank top, I believe these were re-cast so it shouldn’t be terribly expensive to pick these up. I wouldn’t call this pose jogging though, more like a distance runner striding They also did some cake toppers where they had a guy running, weight lifting, fencing, throwing discus and throwing javelin. You can still see these on E-Bay from time to time.
I don’t have any suggestions beyond those found above. But it sounds like it will be awfully impressive when you have it complete. Remember to send photos to Admin so he can post and share the finished project with the rest of us.
