Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017 Toy Major

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017

Markus found  the Toy Major hunters in a mixed bin.  They  did four poses

  1. with knife
  2. holding binoculars
  3. firing pistol
  4. firing rifle.

These figures will work well as Vietnamese troops.

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017

First we have two 70mm Romans from Spain. I have no idea. who made it.

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017

This figure could have been made by the same company as the Romans but I may be wrong.   It is an interesting pose, I wonder what other poses were done.

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017

Biff O’Hara is from Jescan. My question is the Rusty Figure from Rin Tin Tin. Who made him.  The show must have been popular in Spain as I have seen several different figures done of Rusty.

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017

The soccer player is Jescan.  The woman on the right I have no idea. Also how many other figures are in the series.

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017 Odds and Ends

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017

I always like the Eldon 45mm Army figures. They have great detail.  It is shame they are not bigger.

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017

Marx Outdoor Western Accessories were done in many different colors. These accessories are in a yellow soft plastic. I would like to known what year they were done.

Plastic Figure Showcase Part Five July 2017

These two figures showed up in a junk box.  The figure on the right is by Cherilea. The figure someone of Facebook claims that it was done by Timpo. We will see if that is correct once our English readers chime in.

The yellow Fort Apache accessories are from the reissue playset from Toy Street. They came in a couple of shades of yellow.

I know of 3 Toy Street sets. The smaller one with the regular gate, the large set with the Blockhouse over the gate and the Sears version which comes in a plain brown cardboard carton with a Sears stock number on it. I think all 3 sets came with the yellow acc’s, but I’m not 100% sure.

They may have shown up in some other Toy Street sets, too.

Bill i have two of those TS set but my accessories in one are rather dark yellow bright and hard plastic type not soft wile in other are rusty brown and bright red ,still i can be confused with picture glare and or description .
TS also sold another fort using copies of Airfix western figures as well.
      my thoughts..
      best…

      • ERWIN SELL says:

I think the Accessories are belong to KBT-Kay Bee Toys (originally founded by mARX family if im not mistake)
The playset had in it the MARX name and was named (the famous Fort apache )? That did come with pale yellow soft plastic accessories .Again i could be wrong base in the pictures…
        Best..

The two top Romans are MOYA last production-80s .There are 8 poses, they are very hard to find in complete set or painted original condition.Original figures sale in Spain from 50 to 100 a piece if first generation-Rubber.

Cowboy is Either EMIROBER ,TEXIDOR or copy as a bit crude…

Rin Tin TIN-Rusty is by COMANSI first generation 12 poses 7cav set. Will send full picture set to admin minus Dog.
    ALL RTT series are top$$.
Following SPANIARDS companies made entire RTT series set with characters.
    COMANSI,JECSAN,PH,EMIROBER…I forgot two more…sorry..
Yes most late 50s-60s western TV programs were immediately release in Spain with translation rather than subtitle in many cases.

The Knight in right (crusade) is belong to Cherilea full set included 2 saracen poses ,i had send picture before to admin about it when another pose of same set was posted here not long ago.
I will post again the data i did before just as reference please.
They are 50/54 mm figures from lead molds.
The series “Medieval” contains six poses (reference taken: Plastic warrior Cherilea Checklist – Chrl001 to Chrl006)
    – Knight holding a sword, hand on hip (two represented in silver in picture)
    – Knight with sword at the height of the hip (two represented in silver in the photo)
    – Crusader defending himself with sword and shield (a white & a black in the picture)
    – Crusader standing behind his shield (two white on the photo)
    – Buckwheat advancing with Lance (a present on the white and red photo)
    – Buckwheat defending with sword (a present on the white and red photo)
    The series is therefore complete

The rider is also a Cherilea (Chrl / 042): Knight mounted with reversed sword also coming from the molds of lead.
    Not clue on soldier
I agree in Eldon detail ,they are awesome. Also stormbreaker( i think spell as that) soldiers are well designed and made too.Still I can use all ELDON personally as are in my range scales diversity and scales scenes per scale.
I had see the woman but it looks like a copy to me.
Jecsan Soccer player belong to a full team set ,often sold in box only ,full set in box sale high as far i know.Sets were painted in many teams colors.
    My thought..
    best..

  4. Andy says:

You asked what year the yellow Marx outdoor accessories were done: I tracked back that I bought a set of yellow accessories in HP in May 1999 that I thought were newly made at that time if that helps. I’ve also seen a few of them recently on eBay after not noticing any for quite a while.

  5. Brian Johnson says:

What scale are the “Toy Major Hunters”?Really like the rifle shooter figure.

  6. The Lifeguard standing at attention with sword in the last picture was by Timpo, originally made in hollowcast lead.

We bought some of the 70mm Romans in the top picture direct from the Oliver factory in Barcelona in the late 1980’s but I don’t think they were making them there on a commercial basis as they only had a few examples and they had lots of figure ranges from several old Spanish companies that they were producing. They were made in very bright coloured plastics, orange, red, blue etc. they were very brittle and broke easily.

  7. Daithi Gilfoyle mcgroarty says:

Yes ,Indeed -Both figures were issued in the early 1950″s. Both being Plastic versions of the firms Hollow cast metal ranges. The standing figure of the “Life guard” IS Timpo and was sold in “sets” of four issued in a clear plastic[?] gift box. as a Tourest trinket. Also they did a set of Marching Scots and foot guards in a similar set- these though were “New” figures[2] with a moving right hand.

    • admin says:

Thank you and Brian for the update, as I said they turn up in a junk box here in the states. I never know what will turn up in a lot. It is a challenge.

  8. Wayne W says:

I bought one of the Toy Street Fort Apaches around 1991 – it had the blockhouse over the gate, MPC US Cav/ACW in light blue, recast (or whatever) Marx Indians in a bright red stiff plastic, and the outdoor accessory set in yellow that was almost opaque if you held it up to the light. I remember spray painting them in a dark brown because the color just didn’t seem right to me. I know I still have them in a box somewhere.

I REALLY HAVE to sort through my collection – soon!

    • admin says:

Yes the set was from Toy Street as I also got MPC cavalry with the lot. thanks for the date I had forgotten about that company until it was mention.

      • Wayne W says:

Glad I helped. As I said on another thread I got to thinking about it and realized I had bought two to replace the walls I’d had stolen a few years before. I wasn’t really impressed with the figures (never really liked the MPC cavalry and thought they had ruined the Indians with the plastic – though I have wondered if they’d be worth converting someday) – the accessories were okay with a hit of spray paint. I felt the walls alone were worth the price at the time.

  9. Len Hardt says:

I got the hunters in a bag of natives on Amazon a few years ago, to go in a Tarzan diorama. I had (and sold) several sets of the yellow soft plastic accessories. I got them from a guy who used to sell on ebay. He was always generous and gave you lots of extra stuff. He specialized in all the reissue Ideal stuff (no longer available), along with the Payton landing craft, and many Fort Apache items. My understanding is that these molds are now “missing.” Here we go again.

    • admin says:

The person you may have been dealing was Bob Benndict. Bob is an interesting person. I lost contact with him years ago.

  10. ERWIN SELL says:

Ok the following link that many of us had red has a data entry in many Marx playset,in it is included a Toy Street version w pictures from Bill Nevins by the way and also the one I was refering call (The famous Fort apache )That such Box did come with MARX name and playset used the pale odd yellow accessories as depicted in pos-adami n pictures.Note how the description in that site refer to odd color used .

Today I also check my TS playset and they are bright yellow.Again not way x me if TS sets also had then in others yellow tone.Just passing few more data off in forum please to help.
When look at link scroll all the way down til almost end of page to find the two version reissued not under Marx.
My idea is that TS were sold and distributed in TRU and Kmart were i remember seen then while KBT sold the other version probably reissuing the accessories in last mold shots coming or using the odd pale yellow.
    Just my thoughts.

I been direct informed today that a NEW 300 pages all full color page of COMANSI 1956-2006 will be limited on sale soon by Hermina ,the same author of several BOOKS on spaniards plastic toy figures.
The book will cover from start of factory to last figures made in 2006 with new forts as still on sale,it will cover the non toy soldiers toys such animals, charaters, and others as well.
I highly recommend the books from Spain if you can afford then as very expensive ,still the size, quality in pictures and papers is astonishing the best in toy soldiers/figures ever.Way above any done.I own severals and can attest x it.
Unfortunately because limited production they will not be done in english as far i been told.Yet not much to read and if need would not be hard to translate in most cases .
Any need of any spaniard translation i can do x free at any times once you send me page copy of it as well or write it x me ..
Please be aware that google translator do not correct translate often many country used words specifically and may confuse a bit .
    Best..

The Toy Major hunters would make great NVA or VC. Are they hard to come by? I definitely want a set now. I picked up some of the Mars Vietnam range and would like to use them for a D20 role playing game at some point. Thanks for posting them!!

    • Erwin says:
