Reader’s Contributions More July 2017 we have some interesting items from several readers. First Andrey Buslov shares a tradition he does when he is traveling with toy soldiers. Next Ed Borris shares some color variations of Marx 60mm cavalry figures. finally we have some information from Erwin Sell. Erwin also has a question on some figures.
Reader’s Contributions More July 2017 Andrey Buslov
Andrey likes to take photos of a toy soldier at historic site. Normally he used metal figures he has made. In Italy he did not have any metal Romans so he used a Jescan Roman. A nice way to combime to interests.
Reader’s Contributions More July 2017 Ed Borris
Ed Borris has acquired some interesting representations of Marx 60mm cavalry. Here we have some unusual brown 60mm cavalry. They are a resin type or harder plastic. Someone must have made using the original figures to make a mold. As you can see they are not the smaller versions made by CTS, I got these from someone in Mexico. I suppose they could be figures made using reground plastic, but I don’t know for sure.
Next we have the Rin tin Tin character figures in odd colors. First we have a red semi translucent Rusty. The second is a vivid blue Rip Master. He is a harder plastic not the typical powder blue Rip. Ed did not tell us where he got the figures.
Reader’s Contributions More July 2017 Erwin Sell
I showed one of these figures recently. Erwin has the full set and has more information on these figures.
Reader’s Contributions More July 2017 Erwin Questions
Erwin has two questions on some figures. The first one is some African natives. Erwin got these figures in 90’s There are six different poses. The figures are lettered on the bottom A to F. The set contains two women.
The figures are nicely detailed . The scale is around 54mm. Erwin wants to know who made them. I remembered selling them and believe there were some hunters with them as well.
Finally we have this caveman from Erwin. Do you know who made him?
The red plastic native looks like Marx. the others came out in the cheap shops in Australia and were made in China.
The big caveman with bow and arrow has very primitive features for him to be using a bow and arrow but i don’t know the maker.
I need add the Caveman is around 85 mm tall made of very alike even in the smell and type old rubber used by Aurburn figures.Recently I had been informed another pose with two bones dancing sold with this pose in 2015 out ebay UK as unknown vintage .The caveman has only a B2 engraved bellow base in reverse mirror image and not other words or marks.Mine come from Italian seller who claim has it as child but not more info.
Another collector informe me are from China made recently, but the material and two sellers selling it as vintage tell me they may not be that late production in my opinion.
However it could be …

Hi Erwin ,
I think I was the person that bought both poses ( I believe might have been from England , I read reports they were sold at museum ? They appear to be conversions of Ajax 5 inch figures ! I almost bid on those flat blues as I have seven or 8 of them already, only about 4 of those figures he listed had some minor damage. The blue Rip is a color I have never seen before and I’ve seen and owned a lot of Rips in various colors. In fact I still have a bunch of Rips in 3 or 4 colors besides this one.
The Rusty comes from Peru.
Ed those Rusty pose is a copy or have same mold marks words below ??
Both figures have their names and Screen Gems on the bottom.
Thank you Ed…
Then are from BASA as they sold Marx,MPC,LIDO figures,i will post one day here all BASA production from former manager he pass to me .
I’m wondering how the molds were send there back and for ,leased or else.
Best…
The brown cavalry do not even have mold ejection marks on the bottom, they look like they were hand poured rather than injection molded. They came from Mexico at least the seller did as that is where they came from in the mail.
yes, I can see they are down scaled too ,i think could had been done with simple silicone mold process …Been used many times for few shots poses or sets.
my thoughts…
I have the brown natives and two hard plastic cavemen. The archer and the one with the two bones. The natives were purchased in a tube sort of set at WalMart in the late 1990s. I do not know the name of the manufacturer, but whoever it was, it was the same as the company that made the playset with slightly altered clones of the TimMee Vietnam GIs for WalMart at that time, (the set with the standing bazooka man and the officer with his pistol extended etc.) The jungle set did come with hunters and badly painted jungle animals as well as hollow rocks, palm trees and a jungle stilt hut and a rope bridge. The hunters made great Vietnamese to use against the GIs from the other set. I still have the figures someplace as well as the hut and bridge.
I believe I got the cavemen at a yard sale and they either have no markings or they say Hong Kong or China on the base. I will try to find them tomorrow to check.
I picked up all the chintoy napolionics from the dealer you recommended cant wait for the next
I bought a couple of figures out of my local charity shop they are three inches high one is a king with a cape and a sword the other is a noble with a hawk on his arm they have victory & valour on the back of them also k&m inc ltd made in china they seem to be made of a sort of rubber does anybody know of other figures that they go with. My camera is not working at the moment so I do not have any pictures to show you of them thank you James.
James …
K&M as far i remember had done thousand toys/ figures ,some base in films ,others in cartoons and others generic, they have a 55 mm exact scale plastic knights full painted set depicting knights with country name bellowe, such german, french, english, spaniard, venetian and sold at museums before. I have then. But in hard plastic. However The one you describe are different by scale and description.
They had done dragon and sorcery sets as well fantasy ,pirates and modern figures. They cover lead, metal, plastic,PVC,resin and soft plastic in material.Recently they had enter in action figures as well with sets been sold at TRU .
I may think your easy way is google then base on those description and see if find match.
best regards.
It may be from this set sold by Wild REpublic that has a same 3″ scale pirates i post here too about a year ago..

Thank you Erwin they are the ones thank you for finding them for me they are not bad for the price I paid 10 pence each for them out of a charity shop here in the uk it was the same shop I got a original cts bunker hill playset complete in. That was £15.00 then I sent my brother up to the shop to see if they had anymore he came back with a James bond skyfall scalextric set that was £10.00 so we are going to keep an eye on the shop in case of anything else they might get in
James .You are welcome!!!
Glad help you,
I think the knights sets is not longer release by Wild Republic .
If check all sets in tubes at brand web site, only the pirates appear as active ,I have the pirates ,not the knights.
Those other deals you got are great find ,I’m glad you find then at the awesome prices.
Best .

The US cavalry are interesting find, they look like silicone mold cloned process done .
My thoughts.
Best regards
Regarding African natives still have a bag saying Hunters & Natives Playset 60pcs. Made in China Toy Major.
As it has German/European safety and even recycling logos it could have been made specifically for European market. Not sure on that on that point. No idea where I got it.
Maybe Woolworth or Toys r’ us (or Belgium or Luxemburg). 4 different hunter figures in it (One lost his head already. Cramped in bag.)
Can send a picture later if of interest. Little bit short of time at the moment.
Do send a photo wgen you get a cahnce so Ican seeif it is the same I sold.
Markus.thank you.
TOY MAJOR is been distributing toys for TrU s since 90s till now in the cheap line sections.
It could well be there you got it.
I never saw then here but probably were not much distributed or sold as other her that last in shelves x years here.
Will love see pictures and get one day complete the set poses.
Best.
