Photos From The Texas Toy Soldier Show Ed Borris has sent us some photos from the show. The photos were taken by Mike Kutnick. Besides the show Mike took photos of some of the attractions in San Antonio.

Thanks for sharing these, Ed, Mike and Admin; it looks like a good time sight seeing and attending the show. Seeing the photos makes me wish the Westcoaster had not been rescheduled. I missed seeing all the dealers, tables, and investigating what was available this year.
I really like the King and Country display, would love to be looking at the zombies figures and dealer boxes. The Louie Marx figure is impressive!
That exhibit of Jim Bowie is a pretty good likeness. Wish I could see the photo magnified, but when I click on it, I go to Wikipedia.
I was at the Alamo some 20 odd years ago and remember being told to move my bicycle after locking it to a chain fence and then being told to remove my slouch hat when I entered the Alamo. I didn’t realize, at the time that it was still a sacred place. It is just the chapel, which is a museum with guides to explain the events.
I also visited the reconstructed Alamo somewhere near Del Rio. That was actually exciting as it is the full reconstructed Alamo and as I looked up to the walls and remembered John Wayne defending it!

One thing they remind me of constantly when there is not to call it a chapel, it’s a church.
The John Wayned Alamo is in Bracketville, it’s now closed to the public.
One thing they were debating when I was in Texas is reconstructing the south gate and wall to the extent that they can , but making it out of glass. I guesss they are thinking it will add to the experience, the Texas boys I spoke to were against glass being the building material. They favored adobe or concrete. They feel it would add to the experience as you could then actually stand on the walls and look out, something you can’t do today.
Texas is always fun, I didn’t really set up to sell, I just went for a good time. I hang out with Gary Beadel , Jack Edmondson and Mike Kutnick mostly , and when the sun goes down we head over to Ernie’s for drinks. Jack is the author of the book named , ” The Alamo Story”, in my estimation the best Alamo book out there. We usually attract a number of people to go to Ernie’s with us and we spend a couple hours telling stories and talking about the Alamo. Good times with good people.
I had a great time at the show,,King and country seemed to have a bit less stock then the past,,
He showed us his pictures of his future plans, how many will actually hit the market who knows? I don’t plan on buyng any metal figures, so I just looked at thepictures without actually letting them sink in as to what they were.
Was the show busy, slow? What was selling?
The show was busy, lots of people came to buy. The St Petersburg figures were selling, Conte sets sold, I bought a ton of Barzso figures, maybe 400. In truth everything seemed to be moving, I didn’t hear anyone complaining and everyone I talked to did well.
Thanks for response. This is GOOD news for the hobby.
Even though I live in Texas, I always miss this show due to work and/or conflicts with family vacation plans. My family and I have often wound up in San Antonio one to two weeks later and I just browse around the Alamo gift shop and King’s X and wish “if only”.
I’m glad to hear the show went well!
Thanks for posting the pics – really hoped to be there this year, it will be the longest the Missus and I have gone between getting out there; hoping next year. Always a good time and like you said – good people.
The Texas Show is on the bucket list. The Alamo and the Menger Hotel are both destinations sites, and I hear many good things about San Antonio as a nice place to visit. Only have been to Dallas, Houston, and Austin so far.
Anybody heading to the Marx Convention in Wheeling next week? I have missed it two years in a row due to out-of-town funerals. So far, no one I know is seriously ill so there is hope for a Friday visit.
I stopped going to Marx convention as it was too expensvie for us as I had to stay over for a night. This meant a hotel room and boarding the boys. I found I could use that money toward buying items from local sources. Let us know how it was.
