Chintoys nest according to one forum is going to be Portuguese Spanish General Staff. Photos will be coming soon. It will be interesting if any of those figures can be adapted to the alamo scene. I will have the fun finding out who these people are.

They are also doing the Prussian staff.

just heard about the Prussian staff.
Good news, I’m just finishing up painting the Russian general staff. I have all the others except for the Sharp rifles. They paint up beautifully.
I’ve got all their sets. They are next on my “to-do” list as soon as my son and his family get settled in their new digs and we can get the house back.
Love them all. Can’t wait for the Prussians now.
I will not understand well why they will do a mix Portuguese and Spaniard army staff set.
There two countries.
Since early 1809 portuguse army had adopted most british uniforms and even train as in fact fought most action attached or direct part of British army.
While Spaniards always used their own and as they mantein also a complete guerrila tactic forces too w many charcters to choose from it .
IT will be a waste mix both as one or actually a mistake.
In fact spanirads army were the first to ever defeat and surrender and entire imperial Napoleon army at Bailen and most their action were completely separa ted and not in conjunction w British and Portuguese forces or command at all.
This would had been same as to do a RUSSIAN PRUSSIAN staff set combined.
My thoughts.
Best.
I suspect Chintoys felt that there probably weren’t enough well-known figures from the Spanish and Portugese forces to do two separate and complete sets. So it did one set with 4 characters from each. For the same reason, there were so many French personalities that Chintoys had to do two separate French sets.
It could be a “logic” still biased wrong based choice if were the case in my opinion…
There plenty well known in a war that drag half of Napoleon empire forces for over 7 rears.
May be they/it/him should do better research x next time ,specially it after making such charter as Andreas Hofer that fought micro action in a local region that did not affect any main conflict nor drag any resources or not impacting at all Napoleon action in Germany ,Austria and last less that a year and was not at all part of any army staff .
I hope they don’t choose Augustina De Aragon as a staff Character this time .!!!…
In Spaniard staff side along these are just few samples of notable Spaniard generals that won important big battles against napoleon forces along .
Henestrosa,Carrera,Norona,Del Parque,Tafalla,Eroloes,Minas,Blacke,Santocildes…
My thoughts …
Erwin, you are right from an historical point of view but sadly, as HaT discovered with their foray into 1/32 Napoleonics when they produced some superbly sculpted and molded sets from nations and principalities that had played important roles in the wars but were virtually ignored by the hobby. There were simply not enough collectors in an already small hobby or market base to absorb the output. Just recently they were trying to do a crowdfunding project for some 1/32 Napoleonic British and 7YW Austrians – both would have been superb sets. But there just wasn’t enough support to get it off the ground in spite of the best efforts of several of us.
So, perhaps Chintoys might be sticking their toe in the water so to speak; if this first set sells well and there is demand for another they might follow it up. For now, I will be content they are doing anything in this much-neglected theater of the Napoleonic wars.
I believe HAT sets trial and this(Chintoys) are separated views/enterprise in my opinion.
While HAT try make two sets. Both of two main powers they (HAT)was already doom from way before years stop producing.
I follow HAT forum and the discussion were pathetic by many arguing for simple things till point were some even try to put Austrian army as not important which is a complete horrible ignorant comment.
Yet at closer look I can see not ever 50 people talking …when these sets are suppose to be done in thousands.
Now also the amount money HAT ask was for long run production steel mold and machinery with way much more costly cost production and least first 5000 shots per set .All that is far above 100 times wherever short run system Chintoy is using now that cost way much less.
So two system ,two production methods and two different cost .
While CHINTOY had disregard all that as their sets are limited produced and run in much less sets per shots .
So their risk of not sale well goes to much less loses versus HAT losses that incurred way before they stop because lack of massive buyers in the reality .Same issues that had affect… AIRFIX,ITALERI,IMEX,WATERLOO,EMHART ,A call to arms and others as not enough buyers in this hobby and even adding gamer to support a continue release of more sets per years in such huge quantities required by long run mold production in the 1.32/1.30 scale approx
Regarding the importance of Spain .
Chintoy sets are call staff sets(that suppose are depicting with historical names- charters the general/Marshall of main powers in Europe during the 1797-1815 period)
Spain was still a main power as far as colony and territories goes ,but of course in complete decay by then with their navy already and colonies becoming in their war x Independence. Their armies were still large but ill trained and poor equipped .Still they did not collapse as did the armies of German Principles ,Italy or Dutch/Belgium when France invade then .They hold and fought then to standstill till end and drag over 1.5 million napoleon soldiers in 7 years along.
Not to count that Spaniards armies,(not guerrillas) fought more battles/sieges than British -Portuguese combined during the peninsular war.
Spain was not Portugal,Italy principles ,ducats ,states ;or German principles and Baltic countries at all.
Spain was stronger than and compete with many around. Thus was the idea of by NAPOLEON to use the attack in Portugal excuse and install his brother as king of it to use Spain still huge resources for his power. Yet he underestimate the Spaniard people and armies with its generals that fought most battles action complete separated and with out any support or correlation with the British Portuguese armies yet their effort and action did Help BIG times the others.
Unfortunately history ,specially some from UK(Specially Napier’s) had try demise the value and importance of Spaniards army and the amount of battles victories they did along while only focusing in the peninsular war as if it was fought along by British ,Portuguese and few guerrillas. And it was not at all the case as is clear in History.
Probably the maker or makers are more base in this last unfunded culture when choose making a mix two countries poses sets if is what will be done as I’m just guessing base in not set done yet or show here please.
Regardless I welcome too any plastic figure coming ,even the crudest of course…
For these sets are just want one set to buy if any and if they do take the time doing Countries army staff they should do then as separated and not include non army staff in it as they did with Austrians .
My opinion..
My thoughts..
best regards..
