Plastic Warrior Show 2017 The Reports we are starting to get in reports from the shows. Brian Carrick and Andreas Dittmann have stepped in to let us know about the show with information and photos. We can tell this the new Replicants figures are Commanche Indians. Photos are in. We have photos of the tables loaded with plastic plus much more.
Plastic Warrior Show 2017 The Reports The Show
As you can see there was a lot of activity at the show and lots of goodies
John Cross in the red selling some figures to Andreas Dittmann in the blue
Here is Brian Carrick’s report.
We had a great day at the show yesterday. All the usual suspects plus a
number of people who hadn’t been able to make it in recent years. Peter
Cole just had 4 new figures. This year we had a noticeable increase in collectors taking tables to clear out their excess figures. Something we’ve been trying to encourage for several years now. So there was a big increase in the quantity of “junk” boxes. I heard that a number of unusual colour variations of Timpo figures emerged. They are now
making their way back to Germany. (As you know this has never been such a big deal with UK collectors.)
Plastic Warrior Show 2017 The Reports Rare European Figures
The unpainted hard plastic 70mm figures were made in Italy. Peter Evans got a bunch of Turks that will work well with the Elastolin figures.
Steve Pugh’s table of figure and the whole room was like that.
There were many good quality rare European pieces on offer. Many of which we had not seen before but prices for these were painfully expensive. That said I picked up a number of unusual items very reasonably, as always you needed to go round the show several times. Becauseof the stuff kept coming out of the woodwork. There were quite a number of dealers there who only sell through Ebay. They were using the show as an opportunity to buy stock for resale.
Plastic Warrior Show 2017 The Reports Brian’s Purchases
For me it was an opportunity to buy up lots of stuff I missed first time
around from Barzo, Conte etc. went out of production long ago. Several collectors with tables were clearing out bags of these that they bought when they first came out meaning to paint them up but never got around to it so were passing them on. I came away with three big carrier bags full of figures to convert and repair. Which is more than I’ve had in a long time. (Admin note: it is why I take a suitcase to the show.) Plus another one with collectable odds and ends, and a load of PFPC issues that I missed first time around. I didn’t take a table to sell anything this year. As I wanted to concentrate on buying and I find having a table cramps your style when you want to look around and spend!
Plastic Warrior Show 2017 The Reports Andreas Report

The Replicants Commanchee Indians Posting coming up shortly
Here we have Brian Carrick, Barrie Blood, Paul Morehead and Peter Evans.
Andreas saw this at dover harbor. A painter was removing one of the stars from the EU Flag.
Brian Carrick took this photo for Bill Nevins. It shows some of the AWI cavalry conversions that Dennis Donovan and Gareth Lloyd are still making. I think they only bring them out for the PW show now.
Thanks Paul, one day I would like to go to the show. I’ll put that on my bucket list. I was wondering what new figures Replicants would release. I like them, I think I will get one or two sets. They remind me of the Atlantic Indians.
Mike

Hi , in the picture that Andreas took at Dover of the EU flag, the painter is actually part of the painting by street artist Banksy, the whole Brexit thing is still disputed in the UK by sections of the community and this mural is meant to reflect this, there is more about the painting here: https://www.dezeen.com/2017/05/09/banksy-takes-aim-brexit-latest-mural-art-design-news/
Thanks for the information. I know it is a very touchy subject.
Does Replicants make the warf and warehouse that is used in the ‘pirates nest’ diorama?
Thanks
Benjamin
At the moment I say no we will find if Peter cole made it or bought it from someone.
Thanks!
Benjamin
I have finally made it to the top. This has got to be my 5 minutes of fame. My picture has appeared on Stad’s Stuff, along with my helper, (my Grand daughter), who looks suitably enthralled with the whole toy soldier world! For the first time in many years I took out a table, in response to Paul Mooreheads’ appeal to collectors, to use the PW show to sell off some surplus figures. To be honest I had found the 2016 show to be a bit low key, with some empty tables, and I left with a feeling that perhaps the show was nearing its end. So when I booked my table I was not expecting to sell a lot, and wondered if I was doing the right thing. Boy was I wrong! I arrived at 8.30am and several stall holders were already set up. As I was unloading and bringing in my stuff, guys were already grabbing bags of figures and buying them. It was quite hectic trying to set up with a constant stream of early sales. Things settled down until the public came in shortly after 10.00am. Another hectic hour or so and then a steady stream of sales throughout the day. The final result was the best sales I have ever had at a show. This must go down to the hard work of the PW boys, (boys!), who have worked so hard behind the scenes, firstly to negotiate with the venue to bring the table prices down and secondly to encourage collectors to take out tables at the show. I would encourage anyone out there to dig out your spares and take a table next year. If our hobby, (particularly the shows), is going to survive, we must become more proactive and not just rely on the regular dealers. It was a great day and with so many collectors taking tables the buzz of the swapmeet seemed to have returned. May the PW show live long and prosper.
John we have two more photos coming of you so you will have 19 more minutes of fame.
It looks amazing and I’m very happy all you guys find treasures and deal there this year, I great news for all UK and European collectors .
My all future ones be same or better
Congrats to all!!!

Brian, Thanks for that photo of the AWI mounted figures. Great to see that those guys are still around making those cool figures.
Any sign of Eddie Oates?
Sorry Bill, no sign of Eddie and I haven’t heard from him in a long while.
Re the models on the replicants stand. I made both the smugglers harbour and the model of Lewes (not Leeds) Priory. I have been custom making dioramas for Peter Cole to display his figures on for several years now.
Yours
Dan Morgan, Thetford, Norfolk, UK
Beautiful work, Dan! I really like the smugglers harbor.
Me and my brother went to the show we saw our very good friend Steve Weston and Peter Bergner. We got two sets of the replicant Comanches they are great the same as all of the replicant figures we met the man who makes the buildings for replicants he was very helpful and full of information about the buildings he makes and converting some of the figures in the church we also got two Conte Alamo playsets sets and our best buy was a copy of the Airfix la Haye Sainte farm handmade to 1/32 scale all laid out on a board beautiful for £20.00 the show was very busy overall we spent three hours there then we went next door for a blowout two mixed grills a great day wish it was on more times a year instead of just the once.
