MFCA Toy Soldier Show 2017 Trevose PA the MFCA show was the first toy soldier show I ever attended. The show over the years has been at various locations. I have been at everyone since they were at Widener University. This year the show moved to the Radisson Hotel in Trevose PA. The Radisson had memories too for me as it was used for toy show many years ago. Since I was free on Saturday I went down to the show.
MFCA Toy Soldier Show 2017 Trevose PA The Show
I arrived at the MFCA show about an hour around after it opened. Entering the show I saw the dealer’s area was in the main ballroom. The dealer’s area had decreased since its glory days. Still there was items to buy. At Bill Graver’s table I found several Timpo Union wounded on travois plus WWII German stretcher party. bill also had some Starlux western and knights at reasonable prices.
At another table I spotted a nice set of 45mm Superman figures. The set includes Lois Lane in a pants suit and Jimmy Olsen. I got the set of 15 figures and a princess figure. Then I spotted a 70mm ballerina. I bought the figures and got two two dollar bills. I looked at the bills and thought these are going to be a pain to spend. So I took from the dealer’s table an Airfix German Halftrack reissue. I gave the dealer back his two dollar bills plus some ones. I sold the halftrack before I got home.
MFCA Toy Soldier Show 2017 Trevose PA Rick Eber
The major dealer for old Plastic was Rick Eber. Rick had a wide range of Marx plastic.
One of the items Rick had was a color matched set of the light blue 54mm Custer and cavalry.
A close up of the Marx skyscraper figures, bag sets, explorers etc..
Marx Skyscraper (sorry on the picture)

Alan Ford stopped by Rick’s table. Both of them told me that they did well at the Gettysburg show. (Sorry by the photo.)
MFCA Toy Soldier Show 2017 Trevose PA Russ Salberg.
One nice thing was to see an old friend Russ Salberg. Russ had collected plastic but is now basically metal dealer and collector. I asked Russ about his daughter. Laurie ( she had to work so she could not do the show.) remembered her bed at OTSN loaded with weapons. Russ’ daughter is now a professor of chemistry at a University in North Carolina. She has three children.
Russ told me an interesting story. Russ had found many years ago a store with Marx Playsets. He bought a Marx Ben Hur Playset for $200.00. He took the playset home and his then wife asked how much he payed for it. Russ said $200.00. The wife got upset and complain that money could have been used for a new couch. Tired of the nagging Russ put the playset in Bowers’ Auction. Russ netted $2000.00 and left the check on the kitchen table for the wife to see. The wife asked what was this from. Russ replied from that Ben Hur playset. The wife never complained again on his purchases.
MFCA Toy Soldier Show 2017 Trevose PA Other Plastic
The only other major source for plastic at the show was Hobby Bunker. Matt Murphy had old, new and reissue plastic. I noticed he had the Pet Shop accessories in brown plastic. People were going through looking for figures to use in their set up.

Two more interesting flats.
A bust of Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula
A Pud thrower from Dark Age Games
A Civil War campfire, the campfire lights up
King Kong in a television set. If you clapped hard enough you would get an audio clip.
Boy, I wish I could have made it, but in addition to my bad knees, had to go to a funeral and then out to dinner for our wedding anniversary. Oh well, maybe next year.
Nice ! Thanks for the photos Paul !
