Happy Sixth Anniversary Stadstuff Word Press this month is first month six years ago we started using Word Press. Prior to that I had used Word’s Front Page. The program was discontinued and I need a replacement. I do not remember who reccomended Word Press, I am glad who ever it was they did. As it open new boundaries to me allowing you the readers to comment amongst other things.
Happy Sixth Anniversary Stadstuff Word Press Looking Back
I glanced at the first postings which were in May 2011. They were simple postings being the seeds of the postings we have today. What would change it for me is taking courses on Word Press and learning about its features. One of the changes was writing longer articles. Another factor was learning what the search engines wanted to reach to the top of their listings. These changes have made Stadsstuff the premier site for plastic toy soldiers in the world.
We have been the first to show many of the new figures coming out in our hobby.
Our coverage of various toy soldier shows has allow people to enjoy seeing it is a universal hobby. More important the comments and postings have allowed people share information and enjoy good fellowship.
Happy Sixth Anniversary Stadstuff Word Press Thanks
There are many people I want to thank. First is my lovely wife Laurie who has been my support all these years. Next I would like to thank Markus Lecksheid, Greg Liska, Ed Borris, Bill Nevins, Peter Evans and the others who have contribute material to this site. I would like to especially thank Erwin Sell, who has contributed so much of his and knowlege to the site.
Not everyone appreciates my site. I have some detractors out there that think their sad little attacks at me will upset me. I laugh at them because they are only hurting themselves in the long run.
Happy Sixth Anniversary Stadstuff Word Press The Future
Much has change from March 2011 to now. We have seen the decline of American makers and the rise of Eastern European makers. Shows have seen their attendance decline. Even Ebay has not been as rosbut as it was for collectibles.
I will continue doing the site as there many new figures on the horizon. Also someone has to make you aware of things that others might want to keep quiet.
Just like this hawk that boys and I saw I will be keeping an eye out on our hobby.
Happy anniversary and thanks very much for all your efforts to bring us news and info on toy soldiers. I can’t even begin to list all the great sets and figures I might never have found out about if not for Stadsstuff. Not to mention the very knowledgeable posters who can answer almost any toy soldier question we might have. Here’s to many, many more years of Stadstuff!

Hi Paul,
Congrats on a successful blog run! I only just started following here, but I can tell there’s a great exchange of hobby info. I’m glad you are still going strong. I recall calling you from college and from Germany to discuss things on your mail order list over 20 years ago. Others I used to buy from that way are gone, alas.
I was a little kid in the late 70s, and I’m finding that is where I am focusing my collecting right now. Strombecker/Tootsietoy was still strong in those days, and I had a SWAT set of figures and diecast vehicles. I love that format, so I collect those when I find new versions. A while back, I picked up a boxed set which has a soldier pose I’ve never seen anywhere else. It seem similar to the Timmee marching M16 guy, but the rifle is inverted. Has anyone seen any other poses that might have been made at the same time? How do I send/post a picture of that?
Kirk
send the photo to pestad@gmail.com I will copy and post it. If I do not recognize it someone else may.
Hi Paul, your a blessing to the hobby. I remember when I first got started as a collector over 20 years ago and getting figures from you. Plus learning from your vast knowledge about the hobby. I started my collector page a few years ago, about Toy Soldiers and Playmobil. I also bumped into you at the last East Coast Toy Soldier Show. Thanks, Mike.
Since retiring 18 months ago, I have logged into the wonderful Stadstuff site almost everyday. It makes me feel part of a global toy soldier brotherhood, and keeps me in touch with all developments within the hobby. Thanks for all of your hard work, and may Stadstuff continue and flourish for years to come.
My go to site! Keep up the excellent job!
To echo others; I have fond memories of calling to order from you back in the pre-net days and enjoyed your old format site – in a toy soldier wilderness, your blog is a great oasis to come and “talk’ with folks who share the love of the little guys. Thanks for your efforts.
Yes the lists were fun but that time has past because of the internet. I can enjoy that I talk to people here or in private as I don’t enjoy talking on the phone these days. I don’t know if it because of working in a call center or dealing with all the garbage calls I get despite being on the do not call list. It is just not enjoyable as back then.
I am happy I have brought some happiness into so many people lives through the list. and comment time. Stadsstuff continues that philosphy and I glad most people are enjoying it. We will be doing this for many more years to come.
Totally agree with you, the phone has lost much of its joy for me, too. Tried taking an afternoon nap after a sleepless night – received no less than three calls in a thirty minute period with “no one” on the other end – and we’re on a no-call list. I can imagine the burn-out after a day being on the phone.
The site here is great – and it allows for more folks to participate in the conversation.
Congratulations,
great job. Look forward to celebrate 50th.
This year will be my 50th year of driving. Likewise going to flea markets. Stad’s is somewhere around 37 years at least. Laurie and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in August.
25 years!!! Wow. I remember reading the announcement in PFPC Magazine that you guys & Glenn Riddenour (SP?) were getting married. Boy, those years went quick. God bless.
Someone asked the bride of 5o years what it’s been like.
She said it’s felt like 10 minutes – UNDER WATER!!!
Just to clarify we did not get married to Glen. Tom Terry was mentioning two different weddings. Glen had his own lovely marriage to the lady of his life.
Happy belated anniversary, Paul. Stad’s stuff is a wonderful source of info and a lovely forum for all of us. Thanks much for maintaining your site.
Congrats Paul ,Keep on Keeping on !
