Blue Box Rare Zoo Set Animal Variation we look at an interesting Blue Box set. As Erwin mentions Laurie and I picked up this set for him. We got this at the York Toy Show in November of last year. As I mention before this is great show with two big rooms. We usually do the room on the left. As we were walking up the first row, Laurie spotted the set. We asked the price finding fair bought it for Erwin. we expected to be something had and were thrilled he did not.

Recently I acquire from Stads a unusual Blue Box card Zoo set.
Most Blue Box zoo sets are copies of Britains and other brands in animal and Zoo human figures. This particular set bought my attention right away as the label says (A -Blue Box) with letter “A” before Blue Box.
While all I had seen before this was the Blue Box marking. As to why this odd name variation I have no idea.
The card was old. The set was partially mint. Normally I would have left it closed. I decided to open and to see the figures. Again I found another rare find. While most animals looks same as other Blue Box, they are a bit crude compared to other Blue Box made. The ape is most interesting as it is not a copy of Britians but Timpo. Timpo made the ape first in hollowcast then later plastic.

The penguin on the right is the one on the set. Notice how the nexk is different from the one left.
