I got two of the Mokarex WWI figures in soft plastic from our very good friend Peter Evans. Peter had purchased them at this year’s Plastic Warrior show. I have seen the Mokarex WWI for years in hard plastic but never in soft plastic. I check with Mathias Bethoux of Plastic Toy Soldiers French Forum to see if he knew anything on the figures. Mathias had not heard about the issue of the Mokarex figures in soft plastic so he contacted Ghislain Oubreyrie the webmaster of Mokarex web site. Ghislain replied back that the Mokarex WWI figures were run in 2009 for Company Effigies. It was a limited run and the figures were done in petrol blue from the original Mokarex Molds. Ghislain was there when they were run. This was the only color that the figures were done at that time.
I did a search of the internet and found out that Company Effigies has done reissued of some figures that Mokarex never issued. They are eight province figures. The set completes seven couples and give an eighth new figure. Only a 150 sets were done. The figures were done in a red plastic.
Hi Stad: Yes, the hard plastic Mokarex figures were great, and it’s too bad someone hasn’t acquired the molds and run vast production quantities in soft plastic. Hardly anyone has them, and the molds are already created. On another note, I spoke to Tony of Armies in Plastic yesterday and he says his Sudan Camel Corps Gordon/Khartoum Relief Expedition (3 different sets of 4 camels each — command group on camels, rifleman group on camels, and supply camel group with packs) is still on track for a late June/early July availability. The only pictures of them I’ve yet seen are the ones you ran as a link from the Plastic Warrior Show. I thought they looked great. Looking forward to your report on the PA show. Don Perkins
Hi Don
I agree with you on the fact it would be nice to have the Mokarex WWI in soft plastic. The people who have control of the molds are only running limited runs. We were not aware of this run until they showed up at Plastic Warrior Show.
I am waitingto see the Armies in Plastic Sudan Camel Corps before I make a decision on them. I hope to have MFCA article posted in a few days.
