The first suprise is that Schleich have discontinued all of their pirates and knights. They have kept their dragons. Also some of the animals have been retired. You can see some of the retired items at this site.
Schleich 2017 Catalogue Many Suprises More Superheroes
Schleich have added to their Superhero line. For their DC line they have added Hawkman. Catwoman and Shazam. Hawkman is kneeling with an axe. Catwoman is also kneeling perched to jump. Shazam is actually Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel was created for Fawcett comics. In the forties Captain Marvel sold a million comic books. DC sued and Fawcett cease publication. DC obtained the rights to Captain Marvel but by the time they did Marvel Comics had trademarked Captain Marvel. Because Marvel owns the trademark he now goes by the name of the wizard who gave his powers Shazam.
This year Schleich adds figures from Marvel Comics. They have done six figures. The first three are one you would expect. They are Spiderman, Captain America and the Hulk. The next three are surpises: Falcon, Venom and the Black Widow. The Venom is a major villian for Spiderman. They use the comic book version of the Falcon. I am glad that they did Black Widow. It will be interesting if they expand this line.
On the other side, Schleich has delisted their two packs which had certain figures that were only available in the packs.

Schleich has some nice scenery pieces for the animals. They are waterfall, river section and watering hole. Another item is a volcano which you might want to need. Also various farm items may be useful for your scenes.
Well interesting, yet another example of lack in history in children today that definitely reduce sales for then stop it.
The soldiers ,western and historical were last intent of bring some history to children in big soldiers least.
Looks like comics,fantasy and animals left only now.

I agree with you, Erwin. If it doesn’t have a funny costume and superpowers, blasters or magic, kids don’t want to have anything to do with it. Kind of sad.
Staring into a phone seems quite the thing for kids and all these days,,
They had nice accessories but they cost way a lot too.
They made a safari type nice large house I want get x vietnam else and no way by cost.
I understand those that like comics but in my personal like I’m off that game. I never red comics and few film I had seen are so way digital that I rather watch cartton.

Safari did a volcano.waterfall and mountain cave and are half the price .
Terra .A new minor competitor sold at target that release animals, dragons, else did some scenes too.

Plastoy stop producing most historical in 2015 too.
Plastoy 45mm scales tubes with pirates, knights, orks, samurai, ninjas and others were stop in 2015 too.

Yes Schleich accessories are expensive. If you search the internet you may find the items cheaper.
Right now the flavor is superheroes. How long it will last is anyone’s guess.

In movies .is true…
I noticed an increase in super herores film w advance of the digital effect since early 2000.
Comic heroes film s in 90s were less than now .Today are like 10 films per year of main heroes along as virtual digital effect is so advance producers could do any , even w silly plots ever.Movies are watch more x special effect that good plot and act today.
So I think will last x long.
Fantasy gengre are getting stronger w LOTR production since 2001 too.

My thoughts. ..
The superhero movies got away from the effects of the Batman television show. The films got more realistic. One of best commercial I saw of the early 2000 wasa helicopter flying overhead of empty stadium and malls. It gets to a theater running Batman and there is a massive crowd waiting to get in. The newer films have the strength of digtal. The stories are better. They are reaching a wider audience. Interestingly it looks like comic shops themselves have had little effect from the movies.
If you look at the movies themselves you will see they carry many of the underlining values of previous movies and genres.
Schleich castles were also expensive, but very impressive. Their current Eldrador line is focused on dragons but has some knight-like figures and a “battle arena” that is castle-like. Hopefully at some point they will go back to more conventional medieval knights.
The battle arena has been discontinued along with the figures related to them.
Sad.
I don’t see a come back in long as far PLASTOY,PAPO and SC all discontinued their historical- knight lines.
I agree in castle, I manage get two plus extra walls and had create a massive one.
Ironical the castle is made more for 1.32 scale than their big line figures, it is heavy a lot too.
Their sieges machines as well PLASTOY and Papo are great too.
Now all this line will increase in value and become collectible.

I reread the article above and saw the huge list of discontinued stuff – very depressing.

I love Schleich trees! They make Marx trees look sorry. About three years ago, I stopped into an old fashioned train store (one of the last ones left) on Chicago’s southwest side, and they had two Schleich trees on the shelf, with sunfaded boxes. I threw out the classic line, “Do you have any more of these in the back?” Believe it or not, she came back with her arms full of pristine boxes of pine trees, small and large. I came home with all of them. I combined the Schleich trees with the Safari trees from Nick, to create an impressive pine forest for an OTSN diorama. Their African trees are also impressive and instantly turn your diorama into a Tarzan scene. Unfortunately the ebay prices are out of control. I wish they would rerun some of this stuff.
