Odds Ends Plus Other Things December 2016 Company News
Armies in Plastic is giving out more information on their dollar bags. The dollar bags are made up of discontinued sets and colors. The bag can contain five foot figures or a mounted figure with horse or camel. Armies in Plastic is offering ten bags for $10.00 plus shipping. You will not be able select your bags, AIP will do the picking.
Armies in Plastic also has a a list of the dollar stores that have their figures in New York and Ohio. Go to Armies in Plastic where you will see this information and more.
Paragon is raising their prices back up on their figures. If you are looking for their figures you may be able to get them from dealers who still have the figures at old prices.
We received like others this Christmas card from LOD Enterprises. As reported in Playset Magazine LOD Enterprises has acquired Barzso Collectibles figure molds. These are soft plastic figure molds that Barzso had done. These are the Robin Hood and Revolutionary War figures.
Odds Ends Plus Other Things December 2016 Collector’s Finds
Lorrie Causey found this tank in a bucket of soldiers at Kmart. The tank is in scale with the Processed Plastic M48 Tank. Causey has already started a tank battalion.
Going through our Photo file I found this photo our good friend Erwin Sell took in Michaels of some houses you could use.

A very good friend of mine lost his Marx 60mm Pinnochio and Jimmy Cricket. He thought they were in white. Laurie and I were able to get him both in white at the York Toy Show. Well he found Jimmy and he is in yellow! I checked one source for yellow Pinnochio and will look at another source next week. If you have a yellow Pinnocchio for sale let me know.
Interesting. In case any one need M26 for Korea these are the perfect match and correct M26-PERSHING or actually an M46 -first Patton which was the improved M26 used in Korea too .
I got then from Big lot last year in bucket set with an m113 in same scale; too bad in the CTS line scale but will match the CTS t34 used by NK and Chinese and the Churchill too used by British allied forces .
Best
Wish I could get a hold of 12 of these.
Greg: …wish they made a “barrel of tanks” play set without the other stuff which most of us don’t need/use…:)….
The Just Kidz Military Forces buckets with the tanks might be on the shelf at your local Kmart – if you have one. They can also be ordered online from Kmart:

Thanks. At 11 bucks a tank though, I don’t think it’s worth it. If these are the size of the famous Timmee M-48 tank, then they are not CTS scale. The Pershing was a big tank. It would need to be more like the size of the Ideal tank. If they fell on my lap at a real cheap price, I suppose I’d take them, but not for 11 bucks and there really isn’t anything else there that I could use.
It was in Big lot in different configuration lot box with one M113 in 1.35 scale approx. That come years ago too with police set .at big lot cost only 5.00 but had les soldiers and not aircraft. I got 4 of the and 4 M113 I discard rest stuff.
The M46 was few feet smaller overall than M48 later redesigned new enlarged chassis .The Ideal odd M26 would be way too big too match too the CTS T34 only 2 feet short than m26-46 in reality. I agree not exact match but more close than with IDEAL base in real measures.
If I find cheap will get then x you.
my thoughts.
best…
I will keep a watch at the flea markets and see if we can find any loose. Also I will see if a source gets any. I buy his junk so who what will turn up.
..just sent admin a pic of Timmee M48 and KMart tank comparison…
I just put your photo on the front page.
Thanks admin…:)…great site you have here and cool getting to meet people of my same interests…
I agree with Liska and he stand correct.
I have not TM .I pull mine CTS and it should had been larger to match CTS scale ,is in almost same scale with M48 Tim Mee. But least I can use in separated far scene versus CTS T34 ,is more accurate than MARX41 least of course. The funny part hull is M46 wile turret is M26 but not big issue x me .
The M46 was the Pershing improvised and remodeled with better engine and minor variation to turret ,both used in KOREA in largest number considered it was not a good tank war.
It COULD be used for Super Pershing few engagement in last week of war in Europe-1945 .Were it perform ok but not impressive as expected.
That is what I like about the site. How much people are enjoying it.
Thanks for having this site; it has been a lot of fun! I am still going into the archives catching up with old posts.m Lots of good information on here!
Well these went high as I expect will be.

The PP tank, often referred to as Timmee (because they first showed up in Timmee playsets) is an M48A2 “Patton” tank from 1957 into the mid-70’s. Note the raised rear deck, but the lack of air cleaners show it to be the fuel-injected M48A2 instead of the diesel M48A3. A3s were the most common tank in Viet Nam, but the M48A2s made it in country, just in small numbers (US Army units only). The “K-Mart tank is a fair rendition of an M26 “Pershing”. Pershings first reached Europe in late Feb 1945 and their numbers increased until there were about 300 in Europe by VE day, with over 200 in the hands of using units. The M26 was also used in Korea, but was supplanted by the M46 (a rebuilt M26 with a bigger engine). M46’s can be easily identified by large external mufflers on the rear fenders. The ancient Auburn tank was an M46. The M26 and M46 both carried a similar 90mm gun, the M46’s gun had a bore evacuator just behind the blast deflector (“muzzle brake”).
By the way, the old Marx tank was very loosely an M47 “Patton” which had the hull of the M46 combined with the turret of a new medium tank (the T42) and was rushed into production during the Korean War time period (although none went to Korea). M47 was a stop gap until the M48 could be built and fielded (and get its many bugs worked out).
Hmmm, in one of greatest Christmas disappointments I received a Lido boxed WWII playset, forget the name on the box, but it wasn’t Battleground as I had wanted. Anyway, the tank inside this marvelous set was a Centurion Tank which I still have to this day. It was exactly what I needed more Lido GI’s in green and gray, happy, happy. I still have some of the accessories that came in this set.
Could it have been a T Conn Army Battleground Manuvers playset? It came with green and gray Lidos some vacuformed terain pieces and hard plastic sandbags, logs, stumps, ect., as well as the tank and a jeep.
Could have been, I didn’t get a jeep though, I got a firing howitzer, had a bridge, logs, barbed wire posts in hard plastic. It may have had vacuform pieces, I know I had some don’t remember what set they came with though. The disappointment made me forget many of the details. Oh yeah had a cardboard mat too.I’m sure I didn’t get any sandbags. I remember I wasn’t pleased with the set though.
Yes, that is it.
In my opinion…
The Tim Mee tank M48 is call Tim Mee because it was first made by Processed Plastic in 1964 after company renamed/take over by PP. Tim Mee officially made only armor was early Armored scout car I mention in other post after admin showed.
Today many collectors call most PP toys Tim Mee as tradition base in original brand
The M46 was first Tank call Patton before M47 and M48 s
The M26,M46,M47 and all M48 till A3 models/series carry same caliber gun (90 mm).
All Marx Ms ,PP M48 and smaller Aruburn lack enough detail to be sufficient categorized as specific M26 or M46 or any M48 series base in a minor detail …They are very toy simple made accurate enough to be generic model …
For that KITS are to be and even made with mistakes.
My thoughts…
best…
….Frank over at his Timmee Army Blog has a nice detailed history of PP’s M48…
Clarence. YES a great site. In like it.
I saw u pictures table there as well.
Best
Thanks, Erwin: learned a great deal from Frank’s site. He just posted some pics I took with some fireworks/tanks using a long exposure camera setting…..
YES the site is been for long and is a good source of information recollection I think…I look at it often …however about US toy companies I often google more around ,read books or see Kent site.
Barely any body call these tanks Processed plastic ,most call then TM .I think almost same happen with T-COHEN and Lido toys confusing …
Still I see then as toy tanks and fun .
Working with fireworks most be fun, I had as child some bad experience with some of toys.
I often spray some of my tank with alcohol and fire then. Well I lost some ,but not worry they were HK cheap copies and one MPC odd armor too.
The Marx M41 was copied by HK .I manage as child get ton of then ,my first M41 MARX was as adult.
Thanks for your comments Erwin. The toy tanks DO have some salient details that allow them to be identified as what the designer intended them to represent, and definitely enough to identify what they are NOT. By the way, the M26 through M48A3 DO share a common caliber of main gun (90mm) but they are NOT the same gun. Basically the M26/26A1/46 share a similar gun and ammo can be interchanged, the M47 and M48 used different 90mm guns and the ammo is not interchangeable with the earlier guns.
You are welcome. Gary
Unfortunately I disagree in every or any of those Marx toys tank had an specific feature as to be accurate indicated planed designed to be the model/base in reality when first made.
They were made generic and mix. They have features of one and other or none included as well.
Sample MARX #51 has the extra small wheels(Compensate Idler) that was made for the real M46 and correct M46 exhaust wile front hull and the turret are not of that real M46 and of course neither MARX 41 and 54 have the right canon and Mantlet done ,that clear indicate designer did not observe and put all right feature of one specific REAL model in one toy mold but took few and add or mix and more probably wrong sculpt part of it making it approx but not accurate .
Thinking more probably in the generic TOY more to be adjust for two wars (WW2 and possible Korea) as MARX did their sets more for WW2 and with the transition post WW2 war army uniform weapons soldiers x their playset as well. It may possible was though as to be in between rather than one. Definite to be accurate one or other it has to be accurate in all main specification. Turrets and cannon plus front hull are not .
Marx #41 has upper hull radiator exhaust of M46 wile missing the Compensate Idler in tracks system and have the early Pershing m26 track spring on it poorly detailed;so is a hybrid .Not counting the turret and wrong cannon again poorly done. So it has mix features of one and other to thing it be correct indicated as to designer have clear mine what he was doing.
M81 (big Tank is another mix too)
The new sold at Kmart or Big lot posted here above is another MIX ,the chassis ,hull and tracks are more in correct accurate way base in M26 wile the turret is an odd design but least with more close longer cannon ,so better than both mix Marx 41-51 .Still another not convincing though specific designed but a toy intended.
About canon yes I’m well aware the specific designed real cannon were different .
But I guess I mention caliber only right!!?
I was not worry if the 90 mm were varied of not .Tiger I and II carry same caliber with different cannons designed and made too with later Tiger I improved to use the later 88 mm designed as well .
Any how STILL SAME caliber…
The M47 and M46 hulls, completely different envolving return wheels, blower housing, hull machine gun, also M47 has a 60 degree slope and the M46 has a 46 degree slope on the front armor.
The M46 is basically a rebuilt M26 Pershing with a different engine, engine & transmission deck grills & exhaust, sprocket placement with earlier versions with a track tension idler wheel, single baffle muzzle brake & bore evacuator, blower housing with the front squared off. Also, other cosmetic changes to the mantlet and turret with the tool storage on the front glacis.
Also, starting with the M26A1 Pershing and continuing with the M46 Patton the periscopes on either side of the blower housing were removed and their holes filled in.
So I guess if we can go on talking about real tanks I can go for years here ,beside all that data could be easy google, copy ,paste and present very easy ,is not like a need a deep research .
But I’m not in a armor forum …
I’m talking about toys here and I do not think back n the 50/60s any of these simple toy makers have any historical-accuracy intention as were intend for kids.
My point to be toys not accurate designed neither as to be specifically determinate as been one specific real base mold stand by me.
Sorry my thoughts…
My opinions.
Best regards…
