Here is the Ben Hur Playset before it is opened. I looks like Rick Eber is opening the box. I would not open it . The reason is I usually end up ruining the playset box.

This photo shows the pieces spread out The character figures are in purple. My set had the figures in cream which I prefer. The regular figures are in a cream.

We have Rick Eber setting up a Marx firehouse to be photographed. This is a nice playset with 45mm figures.  The mold for the figures ended up in Mexico.  Behind Rick I believe is Craig Remington.(I hope spell it right) Behind Rick and Craig is Rusty Kern.

A close up of the  tin litho Fire Chief’s car.  The set had a  tin litho fire truck.  I do not know if the playset had a play mat. I only had the building at one time that I got at a auction.

Rick Eber used my knife, that’s it in his left hand.

Almost all of those conversions got sold. Craig Remington bought them and that is him next to Rick Eber.

  2. Don Perkins says:

Whoever got Bob Hornung’s Trojan War Set got a real prize.

  3. ed borris says:

Oh, there were also some gray figures in the Ben Hur.

I have named the figure of Nick, he’s Little Nicky Namchop.

The crashed helicopter is a cool piece, not real big , but big enough to place a lot of figures on it unlike most foam pieces.

  4. Wayne W says:

Great pix, Ed – really appreciate your sharing them. Also impressed with your conversions; some great stuff.

  5. ERWIN says:

    Great pics, interesting items !!!

  6. ERWIN says:

I see the Nick figure well painted ,make a perfect match in the set.

  7. Great pics Ed. Thanks for sharing. How does this show stack up against the San Antonio show? Id like to make it to The Chicago show someday. “Little Nicky Namchop”, ha!

  8. ed Borris says:

I must confess those are not pictures taken by , them were taken by Tom Lozowski and he sent them to me.

The Chicago show is about 3 to 5 times larger than the Texas show with people coming in from all over the world. Plus the room trading or early bird shopping goes on for about 4 days before the actual show. Two floors of the hotel have their doors open beginning Wednesday so people can come in and buy or look at their goods..

  9. Paul Gruendler says:

After hitting up Gary Linden for his selection of Bergen/Beton “puttee” Marines for my WAKE ISLAND display, I stopped by Ed Borris’ store firstbthing Saturday to get Alamo casualties. Tried to get him to sing FERNANDO by ABBA with me.

    • Don Perkins says:

I can see the Bergen/Beton “puttee” Marines being used for the Americans on Wake Island. But what do you use for the Japanese?

    • ed borris says:

Is that where all my casualties went? All I got left for dead Mexican’s is dead ones hanging from the ladder. I guess it’s time to make some more.
