Odds and Ends July 2016

Odds and Ends July 2016 will look at a number of items. First we have the mystery figures that we previewed on our main page.  Next we will look at Ideal army in sliver. Also we have some G Scale  figures that you may wish were in 54mm or 60mm scale. Another item I want to look at is the Plasty Chuck Wagon. This wagon from Germany is one western collectors will want.  In conclusion we will look some odds and ends.

Odds and Ends July 2016 Mystery Figures

Odds and Ends July 2016

Here we have as mention on the main  page the two 54mm gangsters. I feel the figures maybe Bonnie and Clyde. I feel they were sold with a car.  The police to the right should be generic Christmas figure made in China. The Marx 54mm Merry man was included for reference.

Odds and Ends July 2016I found this figure and thought it might have been done for the Marx Rat Patrol. When I started to research Marx’s Rat Patrol I discovered that they were GI Joe size. So do you know where he is from.

Odds and Ends July 2016 G Scale Figures

Odds and Ends July 2016

I purchased a lot of G Scale figures  and found the why diversity of them.  Besides the regular figures you would expected, I found some interesting ones. Case in point the gangsters, to bad they so big.

Odds and Ends July 2016

Laurie liked this one that we are keeping him. Laurie liked the figure was so different with him holding the  two tires. almost like he was a weight lifter.

Another interesting item was to fine various state trooper including a female figure. The previous owner  made a white plastic base for the one figure.

Odds and Ends July 2016

Here is another police man eating a doughnut. This one was made by Woodland Scenic.

Odds and Ends July 2016

Another set of figures camera people. You could  do a collection camera people and show how they have changed over the years.

Odds and Ends July 2016 Plasty Chuck Wagon

Odds and Ends July 2016

I acquire the Plasty Chuck Wagon for a customer from Germany. I know that the customer would like it as I had one many years ago.  Plasty was one of  two companies in Germany that tried to compete with the Timpo swoppets. The other company was Elastolin. Both companies did not do Overmoulding like Timpo. The companies did instead separate pieces. In a future article I will go more in depth on the difference between the three companies.

Odds and Ends July 2016

Plasty did a series of wagons to their western series. .  The Plasty chuck wagon is the most interesting as it contains little accessories.  In this photo you see shovel and a pickaxe.

Odds and Ends July 2016

The photo is a little dark, but you can see pots and pans plus other kitchen items.  Plasty put a clear piece of plastic  to hold the items in.  The back folds down to as place to put your utensil. Notice the hook on bottom of the back to put a pot.

Odds and Ends July 2016

This shows the back closed up.  Their is a cavalry version which the only difference is you cavalry driver instead of a cowboy.  The wagon is nine inches long.  I like it more than the Marx wagon. Oddly they did not do a cook for the set so you would have to customize one.

Odds and Ends July 2016 Final Thoughts

I am still waiting for the Mars Vietnam War GI’s. I want to get them for the GI with the shotgun. I was not aware of the shotgun being used during the various wars until got the AIP World War One Doughboys.

The San Diego Comic Con is coming up.  I will be watching for any information of anything can be used in our field.  I also have asked some people to keep a look out as well.  This show gets over 130,000 people and is the major show for the comic fans. One interesting aspects of the show is exclusives. Each company that does licensed items you can only purchase at the conventions. These items can get expensive a Barbie Wonder Woman is $80.00. Hasbro has six inch action figure  set contain 9 Marvel superheroes and villains. The set is $119.99,

The weirdest one is a Hot Wheels MR. Spock and  a 1964 Buick Riviera. The story goes Leonard Nimoy bought the Buick Riviera as reward being on the show. there is a photo of him as Spock stand in front of the car. If you want one you can order it from Mattel.

    Hi Stad,
The ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ figures were retailed by a diecast company called ‘National Museum Motor Mint’, I do not know the original makers name. They were sold off the website http://www.motormint.com
This company makes diecast 1:32 – 1:24 scale vehicles mainly from the 1900’s up to the 1960’s. The made the Bonnie and Clyde car but the figures were sold separately.
I believe they also retailed the larger Gangster figures you have but not as a normal part of their inventory but on a special items page.
The large State Troopers – one on the left and female, and the muscleman with tyres are made to be display pieces with the 1:24 scale diecast cars. Available from online retailers that sell the cars.
The two photographers I think are by Preiser/Elastolin for use with G scale train layouts.

Thanks for the information, I had a feeling they were sold with a car. As these were bought in a big lot I had no idea who made them. I found the figures an interesting challenge for me to sell.
Update the link that Les sent us may not work. The company National Museum Motor Mint has numerous complaints against. One site listed 73. Most of the National Museum Motor Mint cars listed on Ebay for under $20.00.

I really like the NMMM vehicles, well made, attractive and good for “Untouchable” displays.

        • Les White says:

          Admin,
Sorry about the bad link, I had it written down and hadn’t been on it for awhile. I just tried it and it wants to open in Facebook now.
Their problems may be the reason that many of their cars are now being offered by different Chinese makers – New Ray, Arco, and a couple of others I’ve forgotten the name of. These other companies have the vehicles in different colour schemes and the trucks have different loads, which is good to make your ‘Untouchables’ scenes more colourful and crowded.
The Marx figures are a perfect scale match and can be converted to vehicle drivers as well as poses to hang off the vehicles, which I think the cop with the revolver was originally intended to do.

No problem on that Les, we appreciate telling who made the figures. I agree the vehicles would be great with the Marx Untouchables figures.
