Timmee Cavalry Conversion

Timmee Cavalry Conversion we have  our very good friend Greg Liska back with a conversion of a Timmee Cavalry figure. I am always amazed  how many different projects Greg has going. I would not try to do a conversion with my skills the figure would like it was done by Picasso.

Timmee Cavalry Conversion Greg’s Description

Timmee Cavalry Conversion

When putting together my 60mm ACW set, I decided I wanted to add the Timmee guys in there. I thought getting the mounted guys would be tough, but it turns out that they are readily found on Ebay. A lot of times they have some damage and they are just in a pile of scrap. I have taken in about 20 mounted Timmee guys and 3/4 of them required repair. I have taken every pose and traded out headgear and weapons. I don’t think I have 2 that are the same. This was the last wounded Timmee Cavalryman I had. The flag was a hopeless mess, so he got a saber and that included a scabbard for it, too. Sure, it should be curved, but I like this as it is and I’m even OK with the fact that the pistol looks more like an 1830’s percussion cap single shot pistol. I just like these guys. Another vintage soldier rescued from the landfill of the great beyond.

Thanks, guys. I can’t let a good vintage toy just go quiet into that final goodnight. Resurrected on a Sunday! Reminds me of an old expression that I’d heard used by just about every branch of the military. When something happened long ago, somebody would say, “That was back when Jesus was a Corporal.” I guess this guy could be Corporal Jesus (hay-zus) from Texas. His unit will never clash against General Salad’s though. He’s a 54mm commander.
About the color – Metallic blue was more or less forced on me. When I started doing ACW that was the least offensive shade of blue the recasts were being done in. Baby blue (ala Marx) and that near-day-glow blue was just not going to cut it. So, I’ve continued on, mixing metallic blue with a touch of green to make it look: A. Less metallic and B. More like an 1860’s Federal uniform jacket that has seen more than a day of service. I’m completely comfortable with it now as it is. It most definitely marks it as ‘my stuff’.
