More Robin Hood Figures

More Robin Hood Figures  just  I thought we were done we have more photos to share with you. First up is the Britains Herald Robin Set. This is the first of the two Robin Hood sets Britains did.  both sets just did character figures.  The first set had Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Little John, friar Tuck and mounted Sheriff of Nottingham. In the Union States the foot figures were sold on a card and  box set with all the figures.  I do not know if the figures were sold separate in England.  The sheriff  is hardest to find  as the horse tail breaks. There are Hong Kong copies of the figures.

More Robin Hood Figures Timmee

Next we have the Timmee Robin Hood and his merry Men. This set has different eight  70mm figures.

  1. Merry man firing bow
  2. Merry man kneeling firing bow
  3. Merry man with blowing  horn with sword possible Robin Hood
  4. Merryman swinging long staff possible Robin Hood
  5. Little John? with money bag with bow
  6. Merry man with sword  and bow
  7. Merry man with bow and long staff
  8. Merryman with axe and long staff

Kent Sprecher lists on his site the merry man swinging long staff as Robin Hood.  I would lean to the merry man blowing the horn as Robin Hood. These figures  are hard to find.

You could use the Lady in waiting from Dom as Maid Marian.

More Robin Hood Figures

This figure has been misidentified  as Charbens according to our very good friend Brian Carrick.  It was originally was a metal mold  made by Crescent.  Plastics from the Past acquired  the mold  and ran it in plastic. I can not find a web site for Plastics from the Past.

Our good friend Floyd Wilson notice that Caiffa Isabelle Martin is similar to the  Luv Rev Maid Marian.

WOW!!!.I need those PZN to complete mine.
There supposed to be 3 more as total
    12.
I got the first 6 posted before and was a miracle been in that condition.
Same in nice many knights pose they did.
    I forgot mention other day
“Heritage toy solddiers” from Ducote, did a nice swapped set of Robin Hood poses w men at arms too.
They blend very good w timpo, transogram, plasty and DSD style .
I only got 4 poses from another seller mix lot.
I do not know if he still does then as his figures are short run and by commision.

I have the Herald HK version too ,but funny part I bought it in a bag that seller listed and the rider was some how changed x an Indian, the bag appear to be open and resealed after. They do not differ much at all from original other that few mm if so.
In the other hand some one had been producing cloned lead painting Herald poses from Argentina and selling on eBay. Wonder after so many Britain mold end in Argentina if the herald RH set mold is there and being cast in metal only.

  3. Tom Black says:

The Britains set is nice. The Robin Hood figure has the “Richard Greene” look though. Maybe the mold is lost since they did that ugly 2nd set in the late 80’s/early 90’s.
The Timmee RH besides the 2 Archers look like they had a little too much ale at the Boars Inn Tavern!

    • admin says:

The mold may be lost with all the changes of ownership it hard to figure what is left. I do not think they redid the Robin Mold figures because of the mold. More it was they want the figures to be in style with the Deetail line.

      • Erwin says:

Yes herald figures robin hood are beautiful sculpted and fases great.I agree.
The Britain series is more simple.I agree too was partially to blend w style deetail.Yet deetail knights are not match era x robin hood.they did crew x catapults that could work x.
But in no way Britain get close to herald.
Who where the artist of both line.??

  4. I don’t list any of the Tim-Mee figures as named characters. although for some unremembered reason I call one a Robin Hood Merryman instead of just merryman. I used the Geppert number system.
    TM14 Merryman shooting bow.
TM15 Merryman holding bow and bag of loot
TM16 Merryman with bow and sword; .
    TM17 Merryman kneeling shooting bow;.
TM18 Merryman with knife and staff;.
TM19 Merryman with sword, blowing horn;.
TM20 Robin Hood Merryman w/ Staff & ax;.
TM21 Merryman swinging staff with both hands;.
Several poses would make good Robin Hoods.

  5. Mike Kutnick says:

Don’t forget Lido made a series of ” Merry Men” and if you are a metals collector, King and Country has just announced a line of ” Robin Hood” personages and some some knights.

  6. ed borris says:

    Plastic Underground did some too.

I’m wondering where the idea of RH hat come from ,I had seen most time the figures depicted with same style hat;yet some movies depict him with out ,or just a hood or other type hat.
HTF swap figures have the most poses with hood ,but must are not Robin.

  8. Tom Black says:

    Erwin,
I am not certain but the reason for the Robin Hood hat is probably due to Errol Flynn’s depiction in the “Adventures of Robin Hood”. I think they based the costumes of the movie on the Howard Pyle and Wyeth paintings. The Pyle and Wyeth paintings were for the most part based on the 16th, 17th Century drawings. Anyway the 16th and 17th Cent. Drawings look little of what a Medieval Outlaw of the 13th and 14th would look like. I prefer the look of Robin Hood and Merrymen of the Russell Crowe movie.

Thank you Tom x explanation, after your tips I had google and find some data that brings up what you mention. Interesting where it come from and as you said from 30’s till now base in both artist work taken to films.
I agree wrong (too renaissance) depicted in most film.
I like the clothing/era depiction in general in latest movie too ,but not the movie itself .
One of my preferred movies is Robin and Marian

  9. Erwin says:

My first replicant was Stad replicant roman. If it is considered replicant.I never got lady gun till resently.
Then I got colonial British standing guard,Zulu, nap l leinic first x poses, included unique polish officer and from there assorted figures skipping a lot…
They had improved a lot.As true 54mm I consider then very well done and good priced since.
The anatomy of poses in general is great.Soldiers type era and uniforms are choose from not many done before.
Plastic used some time is bad adding to deep detail not showing well.
If you paint them they look even better.

  10. Erwin says:

    I like the table idea.
Wish I have the space and floor.I got two different carpets and wood in other, but much time space free x games now.
