So there you have it send in your thoughts and corrections on the figures
Nice find…
Awesome recognition admin.
The pic #8 is correct early Timpo INDIAN solid pose, never reissue later,at least the were 20 poses of them.
On pic # 6 the two Indian in right(with red base color) are also from same Solid series from Timpo, one missing his weapon.
The military playset had two version, both bring the rocket launcher that actually fire the rockets ,but one has a tank -base in M60 ,other has a nice bridge track vehicle.
Both have a set of converted poses base in airfix Gi’s with modern weapons ,factory painted.
Made in the mid 90’s I guess. It was sold in k mart and other places as far I recall.
I got one ,kept few thing sold rest off
The RCM is Michel France too, many French firm copied that pose from each other as well too..
I re-sent the missing photo. 4 more mounted Indians in very nice poses.
This was a cool find.
I did not know that Timpo made these Indians.
Please tell the story. These are some very good poses.
Bill.
The first solids PLASTIC-indians of 1955 came from moulds made for metal casting.
The old lead figures already had seperate weapons to plug in their hands. When TIMPO switched to plastic production the holes to plug in the weapons were closed. Instead of a replacable weapon the figures like the spear thrower got a stick in their hands, that replaced the weapon, but in my opinion was too short made.
So far I know of 13 warriors/braves in action poses,3 mounted beautiful poses,
and 6 not action poses ,included 3 seating and one woman standing.
The one pose riding shooting pose is the ancestor of same swapped pose made later by British company or were it was deviated from.
The early horses have a saddle cloth with stitching work that differentiate from later Indian more simple saddle.
The WW 2 set says BOLEY 1999 L.A. California on the box.
I don’t have any use for this, but I thought that the rocket launcher was cool.
Gives me a second chance to shoot my eye out.
Yes that is the brand, I could not recall that much, sorry a Chinese brand ,still around by the way.
Yes it shoot about 10 feet the rocket(3), it may injury your eye x sure. I do not know if you got the collapsible mounted track bridge in that set as I can see well but it was the best piece x me I guess.
Also the soldiers have post 90s’ gear and helmet if I’m not mistaken…
The Mounties are by Cherilea.
The Timpo Indian shooting bow is an early plastic, from Hollow cast original before they brought out new designed plastic ranges, as are the two figures on the right in picture 6. The other two Indians are by Cherilea. There were eight standing figures made from metal originals and four mounted.
The Micheal designs were also made in England by Hilco
Interesting,I also red Cherilea copy and got several molds from Johilco too.
One of Cherilea main founders was Wilf Cherington a designer for Hilco and Crescent.
I know the Michel cowboys and Indians line is French direct derivate from original designed Starlux poses/mold too.
They are made of typical hard plastic very like early AJAX type, easy to brake too.
Most “Michel” are ex- Starlux as far I know.In late 50’s I think ;Starlux create the brand to BE commercialized by stamping the figures with the (MICHEL) brand bellow base and then paint then more cheap and sale abroad most time. Many figures/poses were direct copies of Starlux, few were from others or new design. Very few are said to be taken from Johilco(such Arab camel), but again who come first if a Chicken or Hen or the Egg is a matter of issue.
And Not x me…
I live it to the Normans and Saxons to clear or not.
Michel was Starlux cheap line. I know we got the cowboys, Indians and pirates.
Bill
Are the PIC 4 UNK Indians that have eject rod square mark in the base in hard plastic as Michel or soft as Cherilea ?
They are soft plastic and no markings anywhere except for that eject rod indent under the base.
Those Indians with the ejector pin mark are Cherilea. The brand name is often on the top of the base but hidden by paint. Check the top of the bases.
Originally these figures were designed for hollow cast production but were only made in plastic. The later ranges had the well known circle and name ident.
Michele is to Starlux was what later HK Herald was to Britains Swoppets and Deetail
