Last of the Recruits Greg Liska is back with some more cavalry figures. Here is what he had to say. All Marx scrap figures. Heads are non-Marx on 2. Can you ID the figures’ former occupation before they joined the cavalry’? They reported for duty in General Salad’s command just an hour ago.
So what figures do you think Greg used it?
Well, two of them look like the Marx 54mm bandits the other is a Marx Presidio hat Mexican, I believe the guy with the sword.
Score! You got it! That’s his original head and I just carved the hat into a slouch hat shape. Getting rid of the Mexican uniform’s shoulder pads made me think the figure might have some use. He’d been laying around in my scrap pile for about 2 years and I really didn’t need any more mounted Mexicans. His hand was missing and I opted to replace it with hand holding a pistol. He did get a replacement sheathed saber. The former bandits needed pistol barrels replaced and one got a Lido swoppet head from another half-figure that had been in the lot of stuff I got from Bob Wilson. I don’t remember who gave me the Kepi-wearing head. Something feels good about saving them from a terrible, ignoble end.
I forgot to add: the pistol holster is from a Marx Centennial officer. All got cartridge pouches, but I sent one pic twice and accidentally left out the side that would show the pouches.
Need to carve all those buttons off the boots of the ex-Mex, that gives it away. Or not.
You know, I didn’t notice them. I thought it was just the mold seam. Yep, I’ll slice them off this weekend.
I’ve worked with them before,I do the same with Accurate AWI guys, shave the buttons.
