Barzso Collectibles has released another photo of their Battle of Lexington and Concord figures. This time they are showing one of the colonial miltia Figures. The pose is advancing or a running pose. colonial militia is holding a rifle in his right hand and his left hand is holding his hat. The other figures will be shown at the Indy show.
TSSD is showing a western building and pieces for Boot Hill Cementary that will be part of their Tombstone series. You should find out about these items next week at the West Coaster show.
This Sunday March 4, will have the 16th Annual New Jersey Toy Soldier Military show and Sale at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Secaucus New Jersey. The show will be from 9AM to 3PM. The show will have a 100 dealers with a wide variety of material. Laurie and I will not be there as we have other commitments.
Paul, do you have a link where we can go to see the new Barzso Lexington and Concord figures? I’ve gone to the Barzso website and he doesn’t have them posted there. Yes, I’ll be seeing them at the Indy Show, but that’s still a month away!
Don
You can go to treefrog forum and click plastic soldier discussion. Once in there go to the Barzso section on page two of Battle of Lexington and Concord is a picture of Colonial Militia. Treefrog allows you to view the pictures and comments, you can not reply or post unless you are a member. Other forums have the picture, but you must be a member. You will see all of the figures at the Indy Show
OK, I managed to find both photos on Treefrog. They look great. I noticed from the comments of the person posting the photos, who seems obviously to have a personal relationship with Ron Barzso, that these new Lexington and Concord figures are going to be injection molded plastic, rather than resin. I think that’s great.
Yes, they look great. Don, you will get a chance to see the figures in March and you can tell us what other poses are. If you can take an Marx and Accurate colonial figure and if Ron will let you, please put the Marx and/or Accurate figures next to the new Barzso Collectibles as people will be curious how they match up.
When you get a chance email meas when I tried email you it came back.
Yes, if Ron will let me I’ll take a picture to compare the size of his new Lexington/Concord figures to Marx and Accurate Rev. War, and send it to you. Ron knows me fairly well, since I have bought his new releases since Day 1 when he came out with Rogers Rangers. I don’t have an email address for you, Paul, other than this site. But if you need to communicate with me off-site, you’re welcome to use my new email address: “dperkins75@wowway.com”.
My anticipation and excitement over the Indy show are building. Granted, it is this month (finally), but sometimes prior to Indy, OTSN, and Mich. Toy Soldier Show, I get so excited that even waiting weeks for the show can seem like eternity.
I note from the Indy show website that Toledo, Ohio dealer Joseph Saine will be at Indy, and I hope to encourage him to sponsor the July Michigan Toy Soldier Show like he did last year, when Rick Berry was unable to. And speaking of Rick Berry, who I regard as a good individual despite his legal difficulty, he is due to be released from prison at the end of May this year, according to the staff at his store (about 2 weeks ago). We will then be able to find out what his real relation going forward will be to Michigan Toy Soldier Company, which continues to operate their 5000 square foot retail location here in metro-Detroit.

Have a good time at the Indy show. We would like to be there too, but work and the high cost of gas is forcing us to cancel plans to go anywhere far. We are having serious doubts, if we will be doing the Wheeling, West Virginia show due to threat of gas being between $5.00 and $6.00 a gallon.
I was going to ask you privately on the status of Rick Berry. I have no opinon on Rick one way or another. How he will be treated in the field is hard to say. I remember that in early 1990’s, Jeffrey Levitt of Mint & Boxed from England was accused of fraud of 12 million pounds. He tried to build an empire of buying and selling antique toys. Jeffrey dealt the high end antique toys that people like Malcolm Forbes bought. He was a high flier and it came crashing down. When he was released from prison, the collectible toy hobby just about shunned him and he disapeared.
We await your report on the new Barzso Collectibles figures. If you can get any pictures great, if not that’s fine as we do not have to have the exclusive on every new figure.
Clouse is a regular on the Hobby Bunker forum too, so you can also see the pictures there.
I’m wondering how the new location will effect the Indy show, I guess i shall find out pretty soon.
And I look forward to meeting Mr. Borris at the show. Although I’m not really a dealer/trader, I did register for a table at the show.

It is hard to say how a change of locations will effect a show. When bill Lango’s show moved from Shutzen Park, it was an imprvement and better lighting. The one that is at Seacaus on Sunday was also at Shutzen Park that stay the same. MFCA is one show that has gone down from its moves and they have done several moves over the last few years. Last year as I reported I went to the show and was shocked how small it was. What also hurts MFCA is their high cost for a dealers table and only having a two day admission fee.
I figure the change in location won’t effect the dealers, I assume most of the usual suspects will appear. I’m more worried about the attendees. My company has their home office located in Carmel, which is next door to Indy, so I have regular contact with people that live in that area. The one girl I was talking to was telling me she was moving out of the area that the show was being held in as it was starting to get rough around there. Can’t imagine that will have a big impact on attendance but you never know.
Don yeah stop by my room, I should arrive sometime Friday afternoon, look forward to meeting you. Maybe this hotel has a better bar and we can have a beer or two. I should have a bunch of vintage Marx to sell and some miscellaneous items, nothing off the charts though.
Checked out TSSD “new” building. I know it’s easy for me to say, but these Form Tech type buildings from TSSD, Barzo, CTS, etc. are getting pretty redundant by now and I’d love to see some lithographed buildings in steel or even cardboard. Years ago, CTS made a litho fort – I think it was the Alamo – and also had a prototype tin Western Town Front that never actually hit the market. I guess these are (too?) expensive to produce, but I’d rather have one litho building than 20 of these Form Tech things. Anyone have any comments on this?
Andy
CTS ran into problems with the company that was doing their tin litho buildings. New Marx had to go to China for their tin litho Alamo building. I would reccomend that company that Bill mentioned for some different buildings. I have seen their buildings on Ebay and have impressed with their quality. The key is mix the different types of buildings together like Bill has done. As I say make it your way.
I like both tin litho and foam. What I find really wonderful are the buildings made by Allen Roberts to match Marx’s tin litho style. If you have not been to his website you should take a look. It is fantastic!!

I have nothing to do with Mr. Roberts, except for the fact that I own about 35 of his hand made buildings. They make a really great Western Town with all the flavor of the old Marx style.
For Western Towns, I usually like to set up a large scale Fort Apache with all of the different tin litho buildings that I own. It makes a good looking scene, with the 3 town fronts, cavalry HQ’s and various cabins, along with some fencing and cattle pens.
I go so far as to convert some of the cabins by switching the roofs or porches. I buy up damaged tin cabins and use whatever parts are salvageable to create a new cabin.
I even cut the streetfront from a tin litho carryall Fort Apache and made it into a free standing structure. Easy to do with a tin snips. You can later use the leftover tin to make your own flags, by stripping off the paint and drawing out a new pattern and painting it.
The Blue and Gray sets will always be my number one on my favorites list. But the western towns and cabins are a very close second.
Thanks Bill and Paul for feedback. I actually have a few wooden buildings from Allen Roberts. He custom made me a “C.S. Fly Photography Studio” to go with my P&P Products “OK Corral” set from Larry Patterson. By the way, did you know that Larry is retiring & won’t be taking orders past (I think he said ) April of this year? That’s going to be a loss as he has made me quite a few custom figures over the years. P&P also used to made paper litho buildings on card stock – I think probably by John Pinkosky. Still would like to see some good original tin litho come out.
