Who Made This Figure?

untitled

We receieved this question from our good friend Greg Liska. Do you recognize the figure?

What make is this mounted archer? He’s next to a Steven’s Hobby Knight which is a good 65mm or bigger. He must be at least 70mm. Seems to be made of a rubbery vinyl type material like the figure next to him. What else was in the set? I’d love to know. It looks like a decent figure.

I figured you’d know, Erwin! Great! So, they did all Medieval figures? Was he sort of some sort of generic European Medieval fighter or part of some tribe? How were they sold? I’m hoping this guy will fit on a Steven’s Hobbies horse. You think it’ll work?

    Greg.I’m not a fan of D & D ,
I know as I bought it w others and beast long ago and saw twice least listed.
I don’t know what he is belong too.
Yes they did plenty medieval type, very similar to what willow later series were.
Some resemble men.at arms, other knights and else.
I will look In to mine another day,but they are huge.

OK.TSR DD&D made series in Hong Kong from 1980 till 1986 I guess
Also SCHLEICH from Germany did another short series with different complete character design a bit later I guess and a bit more cartoon style.
A unknown HK company made similar to TSR but with some add on and variation cloned in same style. Those are often marked plain HK or not mark.
the LNR TSR 1983 “articulated” series are often much larger figures
The SCHLEICH are top $$$$ in the world.
I can not remember any more.

I don’t have it in my possession. Not a big deal. I will likely just add him with my Steven’s Hobbies Saracens. This’ll give me a nice ‘troop’ of 10 mounted archers for them.
