Plastic Figure Showcase
This month Plastic Figure Showcase will see some figures from around the world . The first figure is a figure that we had wished Marx had done for the Western Town Playsets a bartender. Sadly it was not done very likely because possible upsetting people. So if you want to add a bartender you have to look somewhere else. The figure in the above picture is the answer. The figure was made by Dulcop of Italy. I do not know how it was sold as I have seen only when it was released in the 1990’s. I pick it up occasionally in dollar boxes. One set of figures that would go with it are saloon girls done by Starlux.
Commodore Perry
The next figure in our Plastic Figure Showcase is this figure of Commodore Perry. The figure is 3 3/4 inches. It was done for a samurai set in Japan. The sculptor did an excellent likeness of Commodore Perry.
Gem Robin Hood Figure
Robin Hood has been popular subject with both metal and plastic figures makers. The legend of Robin Hood dates from late 1300’s and has been adapted in various books, plays, movies such as the 1938 Adventures of Robin with Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland. The example here is by Gem Models. Gem Models were mostly sold in cake shops. The figure is 54mm and was reused by Gem Models to be Dick Whittington. The bow was removed and he was given a stick with cloth bag on it.
Roche Indian Woman with Child
The last one for Plastic Figure Showcase is Indian woman with child on back. The figure is part of a series of figures done by Roche of France for a Davey Crockett series. The series was very extensive including from various Disney episodes. The figures were one you wish someone had made here.
