Greg Liska’s Latest Projects
We have heard from our very good friend Greg Liska about some small projects he had done.
No big projects for a while, but there’s always some little thing to do.
A friend sent me his extra Lido ACW buglers. I made them into infantrymen striking a somewhat cheesy heroic pose. He also wanted the legs of the bugle put on a standing firing figure. This was less successful. I’m ‘eh’ about it. Their dimensions just didn’t line up well.
The ACW cannons from the new DSG set are not too impressive in their out-of-the-box condition. I trimmed the trunion so it’ll depress and painted the barrel bronze. I love them now. I’m going to do 8 more.
Greg.great! 🙂
I think the lido bugler looks like ready to pull ammo w the one hand before take weapon out shoulder. It was my first impression and great simple idea that could work w so many buglers.Good idea!!
Yes on DGN no DGS ,the ARW set cannon I did same and work better.Agree.
Wonder w your factory will do w others.
Keep the nice !! 🙂 🙂
Nice work on the buglers, Greg!
Where did you find the DSG playset? I haven’t been able to turn any up.
Look good to me Greg !
The AWI figures are available in a few places. I got some off of Erwin, some off of Chris and a set off of Amazon. I’m getting 1 more set just for the figures. I’m going to sell my extra AWI stuff off in one lot – Wagons, cannons, BMC Colonials, mortars, siege guns. BTW – The wagons look just fine when you replace those little horses (that look like Grey hounds) with some recast Rel horses.
Thanks for the compliments, all. I kept one of each color of the bugle-less buglers for my personal 60mm ACW set.
considering you started with lido, not one of the more detailed manufacturers, i think you did a darned fine job. with a little imagination i see him reaching for a cartridge while unslinging his rifle.

i did not see Erwin’s comment before making my own, but it’s good to see at least two of us see the same thing. great minds thinking alike, i guess. 😉
As usual, some great work. Always enjoy seeing what you come up with Greg. A great reloading pose, we get plenty of guys ramming the rod, but I would like to see more reaching into the pouch, though there are a few. I hated when Accurate/Revell got rid of the guy biting the round off – a great pose IMHO.
