Erwin's Egyptian Temple Setup

In his Trojan Horse Playset Erwin used a Egyptian temple. In this article he will give more explanation what it consist of and is.
Erwin's Egyptian Temple Setup
In  my display I had two EGYPTIAN temples in the display.
Both were from Soma that that did TROY set that was shown in the previous listing.    I still have another playset from Simba that I am looking for that is even larger. That one I believe was called Hidden Temple Adventures.  It came with a mummy, several treasures plus other neat items. The main thing about that set was a secret entrance palace room.

The Egyptian temple consist of
One large front wall with entrances decorated.
Two side walls long that have columns with decoration relief on one side and other different column designs on the other side. They could be reverse if you like.

Two statues
One inner temple/SACRED room palace that is made of hard plastic contrary to the hollow soft plastic other parts.
One chariot not shown here.

One large sheet stickers was included to decorate all around the walls with very nice depicted Egyptian historical accurate paintings. Unfortunately they suffered damage being exposed to damp and I have lost most of them. So I won’t be able to show it.
Because I have two of the same I will show in order how it looks as single, Then combined the two with 6 walls from TROY playset and few decoration plus a part of my Egyptians painted by me from many brands plus few HH and US toy figures.

    Sorry ;correction.
the two shown are same from Soma with some walls from SOMA troy set. The Simba brand is not showed yet. Still under excavation.

Wow! I didn’t get that outer wall. That really makes it! A great place for Greeks or Persians or Romans or Arabs to rampage through!

    Very Nice !

Great set up – that’s the kind of stuff that reminds you of why we got into this hobby in the first place.

    That’s a wonderful playset, Erwin!

I sure wish those Soma sets were still readily available. I saw the Egyptian one at Albertsons’s Groceries several years ago. I really regret not buying it. There was also a medieval castle set with a nice siege tower.

Somebody should start producing 54mm fortress, castle & temple walls, towers and gates like this in affordable hollow plastic. Those foam sets from Formtech and LOD and others are beautiful and detailed but very expensive. If we could get a bag or box of plastic walls like these Soma pieces for 15 or 20 dollars it would be great!

I agree Mark .The foam buildings are nice but cost making and sale price are too high.Still x these blow mold plastic an steel standard mold need to be done and will cost a lot as will required long mass production per piece. So I think because of limited hobby -buyers is not too much profit unfortunately. That is why most had turn to the foam type material x short production.

    Erwin,

This combined set up looks great! What are the dimensions of the fort/courtyard?

    • erwin says:

John the inner palace is about 12-14 ” square I think .I put it away already.
But in pictures I double with other back to back as I have two same playset

  7. erwin says:

The entire wall compound used 44″ long by 56″ wide

    • Jon Burk says:

Thanks, Erwin! It looks massive, but you could get it on a 4′ x 8′ plywood base. I like the amount of space in the courtyard. It looks more realistic when the outer walls are combined from 2 sets! I wish this was still available for the value prices. It makes a great compound for a very reasonable (original) price with a very good look.

    Thanks John !!
Yes definitely , these and troy playset need to be place on solid base attached to make then look fix and solid x play. I just set them as demo for pictures x you guys to see it.
Then back to storage room-boxes. Too much to display. Forts and castles take the most. That is what happen when we become collectors and not enough space.LOL!!
