Erwin Sell’s Easy Conversions
Erwin Sell’s Easy Conversions not all off us have the dexterity of some our fellow collectors. I pass through industrial arts. Erwin conversions are some of the easiest to do. I will give it over to Erwin to explain.
Years ago before all new production started I always like to get extras of Airfix,Britain,Matchbox WW2 figures and add dynamism.
Original poses were nice ,but in my opinion these company(specially Airfix and Matchbox) design the figure pose in what I call 2D image resemblance view and too fix pose as posing for a picture.
Because WW2 scenes are not drill as old battle formation,to have one pose identical next to others looks too much repeating and a thirds a waist of pose.
So I decide to play cut and glue in amateur way ending with some easy conversions I like to share.
Britain using Timpo weapons and one HK frog man oxygen tank pair I made cutting some of these poses.
With recast matchbox in the horrible gloss Grey color by cutting and swaping body torso/legs parts I did these conversion
Britains Figure Conversions
Picture 1,2 (left original -right using a timpo weapon)
picture 3 (taking hand and weapons from original in (left) and add to kneeling poses after removing rifle.
picture 4 adding the radio from (original pose in right) and a timpo pistol
picture 5 -the kneeling poses with original MG42 was converted to flamethrower but I switch the tanks by using frogmen tanks(from HK frogmen) as original does not has a hose connection detail.
picture 6- with just timpo and other Britain swap weapon.
Matchbox Figure Conversions
Matchbox conversions are in middle with grey colors and face/hand painted taken/made off from original body parts on sides depicted in blue grey colors figures
These are simple conversions to do. If you do conversions and would like to share them with us please send us your photos.
I like them! The flamethrower guy is the best. A huge improvement!
Some great jobs! They look natural; thanks for sharing your work and tips – always on the lookout for new ideas.
Thanks guys, it was over 20 years ago and using a regular work/tool blade knife plus krazy glue. I do not even detail or feel, just cut and glue.
Nice job Erwin ,keep that imagination going ! Love the Flame thrower too !
