Plastic Roundup is a chance for me to catch up with various pieces on plastic figures. The first one is from Steve Weston of Weston toys. It is a photo showing the box that the Lintek Napoleonic figures originally came in. As we mentioned before a small find of the figures was found minus the boxes.
Next we have a photo of the Frito Lays offering for Men from Outer Space with one of the Lido mini aliens.
The next photo is of the Marx Marvel six inch super heroes. The set contains, Spider-man, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Daredevil. As you can see the figures came green, orange and blue. The figures were made in silver specially for Marvel for the Merry Marvel Marching Society program. This color is hard to find but there are silver version coming from Mexico.
Next in Plastic Figure is to an Ebay listing for a Marx Captain Gallant Display Board . The price is well crazy. I figure it is worth about $1000.00
We have one more Ebay listing a Cherilea Executioner set. This is one of the hardest and most desired Cherilea Sets to find. It is very rare to see the box set. Because of its rarity the figures can go for big money. I remembered years ago when we were at Plastic Warrior show years ago, one dealer had one of the Cherilea Executioner figures on a shelf for 90 pounds or $127.80. The funny part of the story right under the Cherilea Executioner figure was some Marx War of 1812 figures for under $10.00.
Plastic Roundup is going back to super heroes. Back when I was a child you had to make your super heroes as there were none available from the toy makers. This changed when Ideal did their series of super heroes. This has changed over the years and a wide number of super heroes and super villains are available. I have added a number of these figures to my collection. The three figures in this group are diecast, but I wanted to share them with you. The three figures are Green Lantern John Stewart, John Jones Martian Man Hunter and Doctor Fate. I believe they were done in relation to the Justice League cartoon show. I got the Doctor Fate several years ago and planned to get the other two that dealer had but passed until recently.
When I finally decided to buy John Jones and Green Lantern, I ended up buying four other figures. One of the figures was the Boy playing pirate. Two of the other figures were done by Sizzle 2005. They did a number of Marvel Super Heroes including the two above. I like that Sizzle did a Black Widow figure as she has been looked over in the action figure. I do not know who made the Lord of the Rings figure.
I like the Frito ley Lido case
The lord of the ring are part of the BBi series, that is Frodo and Sam(fellowship of the ring )-first series.
The guy selling the Marx FFL Arabs playset I same selling many high price, often sold for less in offer price. I think he sale as a commissioner for many others.
Most of what he had sold and sale are in excellent condition and directed to high market customers.
Now if all parts of a playset are found and place together I think making the base part is not that hard today, so it could be fake too.
Erwin
The person has the Captain gallant tried to sell the Susy goose set for $45,000.00. He selling to people that want the piece mint so it looks like the way you got it on Christmas.
How many figures were in the BBI series and what does BBI stands for?
Admi.
Yes this guy is insane but once again there some few insane out there paying these prices, crazy world.
Ok ,sorry bbi is the right way to spell it is one of three main distributor of license independent non US base factories from china , it is now part of a corp together with BB.
Sample BB elite forces buckets modern armies and pirates made by BB have the BBi logo on it too.
Now in 2002 these figures come as a limited sets series (Frodo and Sam) come with Gandalf in this set together, most sets have 3 poses figures originally ;they did not went pass the second movie series and production stop. BBi distribute them in window blister pack.
bbi dedicate to collectible and military pretty much in the toy area.
Here is a link.http://www.bbicollectible.com/main/index.php.
Right after I saw the figures were pack individual in clear bags and appear under Decopac Co that distribute it to party stores as cake décor toper figures, and school supply stores. I have few of them(included one original pack of bbi), now are collectible and because of similarity with German made figures in solid same scale ,European hunt them a lot. Still you can find some at eBay ,specially when listed as generic LOTR figurines or cake topper.
Decopack distribute/made many figures of cartoon/comic heroes as well include some you had showed..
I remember collecting the Lido spacemen when I was a kid. It was a good thing I really liked Fritos. I still had the little guy with the pitchfork somewhere until recently, don’t know where he is now, though – I might still have him somewhere…
He went for space trip, you will noticed w see a UFO again.
I have same issues w my figures all time.
