Peter Evans Finds are always a nice surprise. Our very good friend Peter Evans has sent us some more interesting items. Many of the items we will be showing in this post have show in the United States. The first photo shows some four inch soldiers. I have seen some of the poses from U.S. Toys, but I am not familiar with the soldier advancing with the rifle.
The next Peter Evans finds is the BMC U.S. Army Chinese copies. As we mention in a previous posting a Chinese company copied the BMC figures from the BMC Imo Jima set. some of the poses are marines and a few were Japanese soldier that were converted. In the United States the figures have been sold only by themselves.
The set that Peter sent us contain a tank with rocket launchers on both sides. The tank is five inches long. I have put two of the Chinese copies of the BMC figure next to it and you can see it is a undersized.
The next Peter Evens finds is the skeleton figures that were out here for Halloween. In the United States we got these figures under various names including Skeleton Warriors. In the United Kingdom they were listed as Skeleton knights. The set had eight different figures. Unlike the sets sold in the United States , this set contain one figure with wings. In the set the skeleton had either wings or not.
The last Peter Evans find is a pirate. When I first saw the figure I was taken back by the figure as the figure had glasses similar to ones that Bob Hoskins wore in Hook. I contacted Peter to find out if the figure had a name. Peter replied that the figure had the name of Adam the Accountant! It was retire figure done by the Early Learning Center in the United Kingdom.
The first sets is been in sale in dollar tree x 3 years now in tan and green colors, they come in same poses. Not same sculpture as US toy 4″ figures please-different from 8 poses Vietnam era sold under US ,unless same set is sold by then too. These are more like tim mee increased and varied in size.
Erwin is correct – I believe that there are a bunch of these on the rack in my local Dollar Tree right now. In the past year or two Target had them bagged in very bright colors – a light blue and lime green. I think they pop up in other places as well. The poses seem to be a weird amalgam of TimMee and Matchbox. They are very nice for younger kids – I bought some years back for the kids to play with on the beach.
I may have got confused on where I saw the figures. I also might them have seen them at U. S. toy store that is south of me. I will double check.
Skeletons.
Original made by HK company name D&D In hard plastic and sold with stand bases in 90’s on painted version. By 2000s reproduced in CHINA and made under JUNDHEN factory.
Distributed by PMS and MB to UK and Europe.
Distributed and sold by FUNEXPRESS in the US; also by Oriental Trading.
Now at amazon too from FUNEXPRESS. Bags of Amazon bring 48 figures w 8 poses as well of very bendable material. Few with horn by the way.
Interesting experience is many come bend as material very rubber type, not quite plastic or PVC at all.
Because of that accidentally many other poses are created and still you can fix them if like or create new more with cold/hot process in very fast way. They run from 52 to 56 mm scale as per my measures. Because the bend many look smaller, once fix up, they stand taller.
Nice addition to any fantasy set and with latest Party city distributed from AMSCAN
The tank is new to me, look funny but interesting they try match better the scale w figures, something not common in cheap soldiers set when sold with any armor.. So the interesting pirate /burglar. Never heard of that brand before. What scale are the pirates?
Erwin
The pirate is 3 inches tall. Early Learning Center is from the UK and sells educational toys. Peter noted that this figure was discontinued. I was surprised on the tank in the bag.

Erwin, The idea here is to share knowledge and to display odd or hard to find figures and tell the stories behind them. At least that’s how I see it.
Without contributions, we remain uninformed.
So, carry on.
Happy New Year to all.
