Red Kepi Knights is a new company from the country of Chile. These figure was found by one of our readers Billy Hill. Billy Hill is fan of the Lido knights. Bill found Red Kepi on the internet and found out about their knights. They caught Billy’s eye as they had a resemblance to Lido knights
Billy got the mounted knights and saw that the mounted knight were 70mm which were too big for his Lido knights, but just right for his Tim Mee Mounted Knights. The next two photos show a comparison between the Red Kepi mounted knights with Lido mounted knights and the Red Kepi mounted knights with the Tim Mee mounted knights.
As you can see the Red Kepi mounted knights will work well with your Lido and Tim Mee mounted knights. There are three mounted knight poses: right arm down for lance, right arm out face shown and right arm out face show and right arm less out visor down. there are two different knight horses running and walking with left leg up. This is different from Lido knight which has its right leg up. Also you have three different weapons: lance, axe and halberd.
You can see in the photo above that the knights and knight horses come in various colors. I like the tan knight horse and the light blue mounted knight. Billy told the price he paid was very reasonable. I will posted it once we get a confirmation.
Red Kepi also does western figures. I have seen a photo of one the western figures and it reminds me of the large Payton western figures. They do not have a web site at this time.
Through Billy we were able to contact the owner of Red Kepi Juan Godoy Lobos. He told us besides the Red Kepi Knights he is going to make and sell 1/72 scale dioramas. We have included two examples for you to see.
We will keep you informed about these figures as we get more information
Update Billy has sent us photos of the Red Kepi Western.
The knights are copies (or from the original mold) of the Lido large 3 inch mounted knights. I will send a picture.
I like the new colors the figures are coming in, and that we can now get new weapons as well, since original Lido figures are so often missing the weapons. Plus, the Lido 3-inch mounted knights are hard to find even at the shows. As Billy Hill noted (and as the photos indicate) these figures go quite well with the 70mm Tim Mee knights.
Is it possible, Paul, to post ordering and/or contact information for us, since the owner doesn’t have a web site? Is he going to ever establish a web site? Does he have the original molds, or have the figures been copies?
Don
I am waiting to hear from Juan on the cost of the figures and what address he wants used. I will get confirmation if they are from the original Lido molds or not.
Thank you, Paul. I’d also be interested in hearing from Billy if these new knight figures and weapons are like the original soft, supple plastic Lido used, or has Red Kepi reverted to a stiffer, more rigid, more breakable cheaper plastic.
The original Lido horses, of course, seemed to be a hard plastic, but it was a sturdy, durable, non-flimsy, hard plastic which was not easily broken, even in the hands of little boys.
I have one of the larger Lido’s I’ll have to compare him to the photo’s, they sure resemble the Lido knights.
Yep they are indeed the same.I just search and find mine, even two match same color as mine just less gloss/bright; I compare with mine. So definitely are same mold reissued. Interesting find.
I had considered getting the large Lido Knights for the very same reason mentioned – to go with my Timmee Knights. If these are reasonable, count me in. Hope they paint up well. I don’t want the clown colors.
The bronze one looks cool.
I’ve now seen the second posting from Billy which includes the Cowboy and Indian figures. All these figures go perfectly with the 70mm TimMee. I want some. Where do I get them? Where can I find a price list & ordering info? I’ve tried searching for “Red Beret” figures on the internet and can find absolutely nothing.
The company Red Kepi does not have a web site at this time. I have been waiting to hear from the owner on a price on the figures and postage cost. As soon as I get the information, I will post it.
I am Juan Godoy , from Chile: I am the owner of Red Kepi…. one little company… I just start just a month ago.Figures molds the old craftsman has a toy that makes me the figures.
On the website, I am creating and I think in January 2016, the list will have to leave the network.
Welcome Juan
We are happy to have you here and we will be happy to help you with getting the word out about your product.
Juan is working on getting postage prices together and as mention he is working on getting a web site together hopefully by next month. we will keep you informed.
I’m standing by for more info! If they are very reasonable, I might get 2 sets. Recommendation for Juan – I think metallic colors will sell better. I invite others to voice their opinions on this suggestion.
Greg
Juan has stated a price of $10.00 for four mounted knights plus postage. He has not given me a postage charge and how to pay yet. As soon as we get this information we will let you know.
I agree metallic sound good ,any how won’t match many old vintage tim mee but definetelly a very good choice.Just be careful in adding color process to type of plastic used as it may /could made the plastic more fragile, specialy polyethylene types.
This is wonderful news! The small LIDO knights helped define my childhood at Grandma’s house, where she kept them in a shoebox.
Good point, Erwin. I think they only need to be mildly metallic. Sort of like old Marx knights. Not shiny like chrome. Personally, I’d like to see them in pewter – silver, bronze, copper and black. That’s what would be on my wish list.
Speaking of childhood memories and Lido knights. Recently, I picked up a 50 movie CD set called ‘Movies of the ’60s’. There were a load of movies I remembered as a kid. Every one of them that I watched……was terrible. Except one. A campy movie called The Magic Sword. I love it! Having seen it as a kid, I took my only Lido knight and all my Marx first version 54mm knights and replaced their weapons with long cocktail / olive spears, like the wielder of the magic sword used to fight the dragon. So, to this day, my knights all have long pole weapons derived from……cocktail / olive spears. Now I got the movie again, too. I know, boring. It was a feel-good thing for me, though.
Collectors my great friends, I see that the figures have made a good impression. Therefore if you liked them please write me at my email or make a list on this site about how many bags they want or how many figures; to make my personal list of my buyers.
Think these are figures made in Chile …. unique in the world. (Chile is not a toy producer)
