The only thing I bought for myself at Hackensack was the Technolog Napoleonic figures. Technolog figures are normally 60mm,(they have done figures as small as 45mm and others as big 120mm.) but these were 54mm and I felt they would fit in with most of the figures in my collection.
The set has five different figures. The figures are nicely detailed. The figures do not have bases, the figures are designed to have wide legs so the figure can stand on its own. The poses are interesting, but I am not sure if they are realistic or not. What do you think?
The figures are very reasonable priced at $10.00 for the five figures. I will keep a look out for these figures.
I can’t see massed formations of these guys on a Napoleonic battlefield. Nicely sculpted though.
These are part of last batch of the large collection from this company.
The first line or batch were fantasy/non historical sets most; included among others dwarfs and or Vikings first set ,elves, fairly tale or Russian folklore tales ,pirates, early knights-crusades, Teutonic ,first Russian knight set(60 mm) , CF space troopers sets ,zombies and post apocalyptic troopers/warriors mix with modern and old weapons. Also some robots , aliens and one cave man super nice set . Those sets were from 45-60 mm range in most cases 4 to 6 poses/figures cased sets.
KENT sold many of them as well Dimitry at shows too. I got my first sets from Kent, them from other from 2002 all rest direct from Russia.
Second batch come with a rare apparently Crimea war Russian figures sets(two different), ninjas, samurai , Viking ,second set Russian knights(50 MM ),roman first set, and few more futurist sets, this time with some castle playset and firing cannon (not very realistic)The did a line of very alike (terminator-Robocop droid two legs type) war robot machine more in the 120 mm scale .Most in case format.
3er batch come with more larger(about 100 mm)-(single pose/figure pack) I call them giant figures of monster, Viking ,gladiator, else and few space ships about same scale of war droid machine. Sold in bags or cases.
Last batch is the more pro historical and most in true 54 mm scale with new sets and this time in soft and hard plastic version sets among many are roman second set, gladiators ,knights ,Viking, Saxon/,pirates ,musketeers , Cossacks two types ,Napoleonic Scotts, Russian , French and other Russian wars sets. All in 5 poses plus few mythology sets as minotaur ,centaurs ,elves warriors and others.
These last are the best sets in poses and action distribution. Now being sold “”very cheap”” direct from many Russian eBay sellers in bag soft plastic format.
The first and second batch sets are pretty much hard to get now and considered collectible.
I believe most were derivate after video games/else from Russia.
But more could be said by Russian collector of course.
I had manage to got pretty much from beginning minus few post apocalyptic set
I agree they are very toy alike, still could well be put to great use and once again in my collection I do collect for various reason, included rarity. These are .
About the Scotts Napoleonic ,Russian and Cossacks are very nice figures as well these French and could all be well math for same era war in any battle scene.
The order of release I set them as I saw and bough as available from sellers and Russia .No accurate about exact time frame of every set please.
Erwin, I have seen the pirates on ebay, but guns appear kind of oversized for the figures. What are your thoughts on the pirate sculpting? I can’t much about the figures from the photos. I don’t know whether I like them enough to buy a set. I was slightly concerned that these were more fantasy figures and maybe scify? the color looks kind of metallic gray, which I don’t really like. I think they are 54mm.
Ups..sorry I forgot respond this.
Ok what set are you looking.?
There two last Technolog pirates and corsair sets.
Scale is true 54 mm in both.
There is in old set more smaller.
The two last had been run in other colors on soft plastic and I recommend it than silver fragile older production.
Thanks, for info, on avoiding the early set due to fragility. Sorry for late follow up, Erwin.
Following up on this a year after the initial post. I posted earlier tonight about Technolog pirates, and saw my remarks questioning the figures, but looks like they are 54mm, but not as nice looking as these Napoleanic French. What do you think of the pirates for realistic historical navy if you have them, Erwin?
John ,glad got u back.
There three sets of then done so far.
The first were more in the smaller 54 mm.I think all are well done.
While one set is more for the XVII century ,other two are x later .I think most could be used x Navy. However for mid to late XIX century are not recommended from historical view.
But that is me as always a pain in accuracy picking detail.
I guess you can pass then if like.Remember when men at sea are x long ,clothing is not important. Some captain were very strict ,but others more relaxed exept in who is the boss of course or they will loose the boat.
When navy ship carry regular troops, uniforms were more enforced required in sailors as a matter of prestige from captain and order of battle too.
I need to put all three sets together and look well x close review.Later this week if I can….
Best…
Erwin, thanks for that additional information. I look for pre-Napoleanic period, American Revolution. Very little uniform regulations as yet, even for British. Americans no regulations at all for Navy. To fill out my numbers I have acquired The AIP Zulu War flat brim hat sailors in blue and white. I’ll try to figure out how to back date them; some I can change over to San Diego Toy Soldier Alamo type muskets, a little bit later period, but pretty close to the Brown Bess 2nd pattern style, but shorter. I like that these AIP British sailors don’t have ammo belts at this time. Cartridge boxes are flexible within that 100 year period to my way of looking at them since they are closed with covering flaps. Broad brimmed hats would seem to be appropriate headgear, although mayb the could be made with round crowns instead of flat crowns as my common in the era. Wearing flat brim-down hats instead of tricorn or cocked hat style would make more sense for sun protection, although I supposed it would have been an individual’s preference.
I’d love to see photos of the Technolog pirates and comparisons like you do by showing other figure lines for compatibility. Cutlasses, boarding axes, muskets, pistols, belaying pins, and knives would all seem appropriate weaponry. Basically anything a civilian or soldier would have had during the revolution would fit, although most likely only marines would have used bayonets, and then only Royal Marines, as US were never that well equipped.
Sorry for the late response on this. I take your recommendation to avoid the early issue figures which are made of inferior plastic compared to the later ones.
Erwin,
I keep spelling the name like technolog(y) instead of tehnolog!

3rd listing is overpriced used set, but different figures.
Set number 2 is the soft plastic figure set and looks pretty good. Are these the three different groupings of figures? I noticed that listing 2 has only four different figures. Big feet, but otherwize they look pretty good. Are there other figures?
I forgot to mention, they look correct in uniform, gear and poses. It is their foot in all these company figures that make them look a bit odd I think
They are a bit odd looking, but not that bad.
My favorite figures from this company are the SPACE INDIANS. Imagine Indians with Rambo-like space weapons – cool. I bought a bag from Russia (the transaction was flawless) for my 30 year old son for a gag birthday gift. He loved them,
I want the fat GI’s, they are amusing.
Yes, they remind me of many middle aged re-enactors that I see. Now there’s a diorama for you – a WWII reenactment diorama. I guess we’ve drifted from the subject a bit.
That’s what old guys do, we ramble. Speaking of weird figures, I still have some army ants. They were goofy looking ants equipped with modern weapons, they’re a hoot. I also have these odd Napoleonics, very nicely done, but the guy only made five figures, they are either tall and skinny or short and fat. I forgot the guys name but he was a fairly famous sculptor that mainly made 25mm fantasy figures. Tom something I think.
Ed,are you talking about the green and orange ants?
.I got a big army of them.I like those .
If Technolog would add bases to their figures, they wouldn’t have to have every pose standing in a spread eagle position.
Dear Don.Unfortunately that would not happen.
I wrote before why…
They are intended x target shooting, most come w a cannon, add on sets are sold with out.The legs are intentionally position as that x that purpose so they so they do not fall easy when hit by shell.
They are made x kids to play as that in war games.
Not at all as toy soldiers x collectors or adult gamers.
Still they stand better than LIDO or small MPC.
And if wish you can add bases very easy as any glue work on then.
I will do picture compere w series and others to show the proportion and matching brands in our hobby.
Best regards.
Erwin, I must have missed your original explanation, but it now makes perfect sense.
