As our very good friend Greg Liska mention he has replaced various rifle barrels and bayonets on Andygard Civil War . Here is what Greg says about this project.
Putting my money where my mouth is. 2 pics of a pair of hard plastic Andygard ACW guys with replaced parts. The bayonets look more ‘dangerous’ and the parts are drilled in and glued. They are NOT coming off without an absurd amount of deliberate force. I can fix a figure in less than a minute. The time-taker is waiting for paint to dry.
They really look nice. I should have given all of my brittle reissues to you years ago when I decided all those broken, brittle rifle tips, bayonets, and cannon ramrods on those very same Andy Guard Civil War figures equaled useless junk, which is where I consigned them. But your repaired ones look great.
Thank you. I have a hard time throwing anything out. I like to ‘resurrect’ broken figures. If anybody has the Ideal Rev War guys in broken condition, that’s what I’m after now. About 20 of each color, emphasis on poses in tricorn hat.
Good job man.
Nice Work.
I think the real fun in this hobby is the creation of new figures in different poses with new weapons from old broken & discarded toy soldiers. (like the fine work done by Ed Borris)
What kind of glue are you using for such a strong bond?
Greg I have all you need. I left you my email on a previous thread….Bill
Can’t find this email, buddy. Paul? Help us out? Pass our emails to each other , please?
Very nice work. I have a lifetime of such work ahead of me, and do not have a lifetime of time to enjoy it.
Oh well.
Brian
From now on , I promise will check my spelling better before I post something.

No problem on your spelling and grammar mistakes, I check the comments and correct spelling and grammar. Most of us get what you are saying.
Greg, are those original Andy Gard in metallic blue ( If they are metallic blue I’ve never seen that color before)? You describe them as hard plastic,do you mean hard kind of like a styrene hard model kit or reissues in softer plastic yet still can be brittle ?
These guys are grey, nasty, styrene type plastic. I painted them and drilled the holes for the barrel. The glues I use are: ‘Goop’ and contact cement.
