Ed Borris Civil War Conversion Part Two

MVC-183LOur very good friend Ed Borris has sent us some Civil War Conversion for a party.

MVC-184L

MVC-185L

The stretcher party was made using two MPC ring hand Civil War figures as stretcher bearers. The wounded figure is designed to be face down, Ed put him face up to show he is screaming.

The surgeon is cutting off the foot of a wounded man. There is a groove in the foot to place the saw.

    Good Job Ed !

Oh, NASTY! I love the surgeon / butcher! Once again, we have had similar ideas, in this case regarding the MPC ring hands as stretcher bearers. I didn’t make a screaming casualty, though. The Rebs look like they belong in The Army of the West or part of The Trans Mississippi Dept. fightin’ with Sterling Price or Henry Sibley!

I agree, Ed – super jobs. I, too, used to use those MPC guys as stretcher bearers – or cannoneeers (never enough artillerymen back then) – the hats really do the trick.

  4. Greg Liska says:

Yeah, you have to add hats to the MPC guys. It makes them fit in much better. You absolutely cannot use the ones that come with the figures. They look like over-sized novelty hats for sporting events. I’ve put hats on about 1/3 of mine and left the rest bare headed simply because I use so few of them. A few hatless combatants seems about right, in the middle of the Melee. Agreed – they fill in the arty crews well. Hands left open for plungers, buckets, etc. I did the same with the ring hand Rev War guys.

  5. Edmund Bodwell says:

    love your work.

  6. Mark says:

ED ,is the surgeon a conversion also , if it is what figures did you use,if not who is the maker ?

    Thanks,Mark

Yeah he’s the Conte Surgeon from Zulu or the Alamo doctor take your pick with a new head, I believe it’s an Accurate head or Imex I can never tell them apart.

I gave the ring hands TSSD heads, the TSSD guys have better facial expression and better facial hair. Each head is different. One guy I had to give a new arm so he could carry the stretcher otherwise the stretcher was too short. I also gave them new stands, the original stands are too cheapo looking. The new arm is angled backwards instead of straight down at his side.

Working on a new rock basher using TSSD figures.
