Ed Borris sent us a photo of his first Civil War Conversion. It is of a Union soldier bashing the head of a Confederate with a rock. Ed said it was an easy one to do as only had to replace an arm and a hat. Ed was pleased with the result plans to do more in the future.

The man that ordered them didn’t care about the colors as he’s going to paint them anyway.
Wow! I did something so similar. I also replaced the kepi on the ground with a slouch hat, but I made the former crawling pose rendering aid to the wounded guy.
I opted for a little more violence.
and that is a big rock, that is cruel…but well done
I noticed that. Perhaps my repeated exposure to the horrors of war have made me squeamish. 😀 Both of mine were Confederates and it started out because the crawler had the rifle and hand holding it broken away. I could not bear to waste a useful figure, so that came to mind.
The aid renderer is coming from the side where the wounded man’s arm is up, his right hand is on the wounded man’s knee and the other hand is touching the wounded man’s arm holding his head. It gives the appearance like he’s trying to get him to take his hand away from the injury so he can see the damage. It was easy to do. They almost fit like that with little positioning. Yours took more work.
Well done. Love action poses.
I just tried to bring a little action to a pose that is otherwise kind of boring. It was pretty easy to do to, cut off a couple arms, make the rock look nasty , scalp some poor dude of his hat and it’s done. You should see the guy Plastic Underground did based on my idea, to give you an idea, we called him brain salad.
Great job Ed, a great little story within a story.
Really nice conversion; brings home the horrors of war that we all tend to overlook. If you decide to do another like it and want to sell me one, I’m in. Color doesn’t matter to me ’cause I paint ’em too. Will have plenty of time to catch up on my painting soon as I’m scheduled for double knee replacement at the end of September. They tell me I’ll be laid up for at least six weeks. Six weeks of reading, relearning the guitar and talking to the pets. I’ll be crazy as a loon.
Okay, as soon as I get the necessary parts, I’ll do one for you.
Great, want my e-mail address? (and how would I get it to you?)
George
I will pass your email to Ed.
Thank you, sir.
And why is the Confederate getting killed? Can’t you make some with Yankees coming out on the losing end?
Don
The customer requested the pose that was done. If you would like to see some Yankees getting the short end, I am sure Ed would be able to do that for you.
I’m sure that before Ed is through we’ll all be able to recreate the Battle of Gettysburg.
He requested a Yank doing the bashing, besides they are really just semi neutral colors because he’s going to paint him anyway. I think Civil War will be a little tougher, not so many cool things like tomahawks, knife’s and stuff. I suppose we could have some guys with a knife though.
George,
You want him exactly like the other one, I usually throw a twist into each conversion. I can do it again though, who do you want to be the basher and who the bashee?
I hate my ISP; it’s not letting me post a response!!! Let’s see if it works this time. You could do the same conversion, or if you want to make it a little different, fine with me. I’m thinking of using them for a sort of “end of the battle” vignette. As I had one relative in the Army of the Potomac (2nd Delawares) and two in the emergency militia of 1863, I’d prefer the basher to be a Yank, but if t works out better the other way, not a problem.
The same image /figures/poses look good for the Indian war with Indian attacking or scalping the soldier I guess!!
You could pick up some gory ideas for poses from a pack of Topps Civil War Bubble gum cards.
you right Brian;
here is a link indeed;

I had many of those cards as a kid, my favorite was the two guys running each other through with bayonet’s.
Hi Guys. Carl Castoro here. I’m the guy who Ed Borris made the Yank/Reb – rock bashing duo. I am trying to reach Mr. Ed Borris, laptop lost his email stuff. I am requesting the 7-8 Mexican soldiers from the Barszo Charrabusca (?) set. He sold me the Texas Rangers that came with it, and they are great!!! But I saw the figures from the playset, and I can turn them into Rebs. Especially would like the 2 casualty figures in the group, but I’ll take any or all. Since first buying figures, I have been stopping by your site, as well as buying figures from you, and getting good info. If anyone has these Mexican soldiers, I would like to get them. Thanks, Carl
I may just have them too, if Stad will pass on my e-mail address to you we can work something out.
