I get a request from people from time to time to pack the item they won on EBay well. I have no problem with that as I used cardboard boxes and bubble wrap, but it got me wondering how are other people packing their items? Are they just using jiffy bags or they using boxes. About 98 percent of the items I send our in boxes. The exceptions are flat items such as magazines and photos and they go in a jiffy bag with two pieces of cardboard. Let me know your comments.

I always take the time to carefully wrap the item in bubble wrap and then place it in a sturdy cardboard carton. I’ve Shipped many items on eBay over the years and never once had a damage claim.
However, I’ve noticed that on some of the items I’ve won, such as slush cast or diecast cars or other “smalls,” often times the seller simply wraps the item in bunched up newspaper and mails it in a bubble mailer. Luckily they arrived o.k. Bill
Sometimes if I believe the item will not break and if it is small enough I send items in the padded envelopes they have at the Post Office. Generally speaking I re-use the boxes that are shipped to me and wrap the items in bubble wrap. I don’t use the peanuts as I hate the peanuts.
In my case depend in item:Sample my new tanks go out in bubble water proof bags in most cases when no international, till now not issues.Still I over right fragile outside as precaution ,any how it won’t avoid the bad handling of USPS.
Figures I put them inside a paper/zip log bag surrounded by foams and ship in smaller cases I got. I use first class mail a lot and priority standard. Using my set up USPS account with shipping discounts.
I do recycle a lot.
Bubble protection and foam are the best ,I don’t use printer news paper as during heat or if box get very wet, chances are ink pass to item or else, plus you need a lot and will increase more weight than foam and bubbles.
All this is used in eBay and my business site.
I use a mix of newspapers, grocery bags, bubble wrap & packing peanuts. I use Priority Mail boxes + I buy cardboard boxes in bulk from ULINE.com. Some items get little padding and some (breakable) get a lot. I do reuse some boxes that I get stuff in but 95% of what I ship are new. I get stuff packed in all kinds of flimsy boxes. Just got some figures in an exmacaroni box……
LOL! Got some figures in a Pop Tarts box once. Funny things that people do.
