Our very good Friend Greg Liska is looking for the following’
Could you put the word out that I’m looking for damaged Auburn Pioneers and Indians. I don’ know if anybody still uses the Geppert Guide to ID poses, but I can explain which poses I need if required. I’d also like the female farmer either damaged or undamaged.
Having looked at the poses on toy Soldier HQ, I see I need the female settler, mounted pioneer and pioneer swinging his rifle. On the ‘injun’ side I need the one firing that tiny bow and the one with tomahawk and NO knife.
I have 2 of the settler with axe and as you might have guessed, there’s no axe on either of them. If anybody has some ideas for a replacement axe, I’d be thankful.
I’ve seen several groups of damaged Auburn figures periodically offered on ebay while searching “Auburn Toy Soldiers”; “Rubber Indian Toy Soldiers”; ‘Rubber Toy soldiers” etc.
Fred
Thanks for the suggestion.
Yes,I will be in hunt too for you Greg, will let you know, As Fred said ,often eBay seller put them mix with others and damage either in(vintage toy categories-western toys) or just auburn toys. The female settle is the less I had seen. Also in local garage sales they come out.
Thanks, guys. I’m trying to avoid ending up with a load of junk, so I’m hoping somebody who has bought a load of junk, might have some of these figures out there for me to snap up for cheap. If not, I can wait. No rush on this one.
We’ll check our junk, I think we may have some. Do you care if they are the soft vinyl or plastic?
Ed – I’m not particular at all. The fact is they are all going to be painted, anyhow. The Injuns will be ‘Marx Caramel’ and the pioneers will be sort of paper bag brown.
Can you think of any accessories to use fro replacing the axes? MPC firemen stuff or something? I might do one axe and one with something else like a pick or maybe a rifle. I’ll get inspiration from someplace.
Greg,
Okay, I’ll see what we have.
Axes are tough, fireman axes will look funny, I had a heck of time finding one for the one axe wielding dude I converted. I can’t remember where I got the axe from, I think I took the axe head from one figure and the shaft from another and put them together, I think the got the axe head from a BUM pirate.
I used MPC fireman’s axes to convert some figures into Mexican sappers – worked pretty well with 60mm guys – really too big for 54mm. But as Ed said, it is obvious what they are and the axe handles are pretty thick though some minor modification helps a bit.
I thin the MPC axes would work fine. These guys are really more like 70mm. Now, anybody got any to spare?
