    Nice find Bill.
I had the 2 mounted knights as well as a 3rd pose. (rearing horse with the arms of Aragon & Castille.) They were bought in a tourist shop in Spain.
    Mine are long gone.

Nice! Always love seeing other folks’ finds. Sadly, my area of the country doesn’t have much in the toy soldier arena.

  3. Mark says:

I believe I read they were sculpted by John Nibblett and as is mentioned above sold in shops and also museums in Spain.

The represent Spaniards monarchs(kings and plus emperors-Charles and FELIPE-II) from XVI-XVII century
Exclusively made for the royal museum(El Escorial) Outside Madrid .Where most kings of Spain all entombed. The collection has 23 poses included few princes/(infants).As tradition most-no all are from a period were armor was obsolete but still the dress in armor as part of the kinghood heritage from their family background for portrait and image show. Not for battle. Later some were sold in other museums around Spain.
