MPC Russian in an Odd Color

I found this MPC Russian in a junk lot. The figure is in lime green. Has anyone seen this color variation?

I haven’t seen it, but I like it. And if I encountered a bag of them, reasonably priced, I would immediately acquire them.

Kent does have some pictures of Russians his site in a bright green. I have never seen them in that color though.

You learn something every day. I have seen the Russians in blue, but mostly in steel blue. Until I got the Russian in lime green, I had never seen this version.

    Nice find Paul !

I’d seen them in this color, royal blue, rust brown, pinkish-red and a very nice khaki. I was told the brown and reddish ones were found in Canada and the 2 colors were just variations of each other. Why MPC chose metallic blue as the standard color for their Commies is something we’ll likely never know. The brown, or green, or best of all – khaki would have been better.

upon clicking the photo and observing closely it appears to me the figure is a copy (albeit decent) and not from an original mold or from a WELL worn mold. thoughts?

I recall seeing this colour of green being sold in Canada. They made great jungle troops for backyard battles.

I will also recommend to see many of same Russian MPC figures colors variation with extremely bad detail mold depicted at Kent site too. Any how I doubt all those depicted are true original MPC too.
Any ways many MPC molds had been cloned and reissue later, latest GI’s figures come as mold crude copies not original. If figure stand same exact size next to original, then should be from original mold I guess!

I have to find another Russian figure to compare. I measure him and he stands 2 1/4 inches. He also has the MPC logo on the bottom.

Same measure in my METALLIC BLUE and even later BASA reissue figure pose ,so it is definitely an original base mold figure in odd color, not a copy.

I had a bunch of them in metallic blue – never saw them in any other color, but wish I had. Great find!

  9. I recently picked up some of the Russians and Japanese from Mr. Stengel at the Texas show. They sure bring back memories of my childhood in the 60s. The Japanese officer with glasses, sword and pistol always struck me as a child. I thought his face looked menacing.

Anyone here have any Russians for sale? Thanks
