Crescent 54mm Robin Hood

002

The Crescent 54mm Robin Hood figure started of as a premium for Kellogg’s in the UK. The 54mm series had Robin Hood, Sheriff of Nottingham, Maid Marian, Little John, Friar Tuck and minstrel. Crescent later issued the figures out as part of their line. The difference between the two lines the Kellogg’s premiums are unpainted and have on the bottom has Kellogg’s. The regular line figures are painted and have Crescent on the bottom.

I wonder what the odds are on finding one of these guys in a box of loose figures with all the paint intact? He is a cool figure though, I wouldn’t mind having one of them.

I have one or two of these. one is a premium and unpainted. The other I found at a local seniors residence group garage sale. He is painted and attached to a small wooden scene one a plaque made as a key ring holder labelled Sherwood Forest. It has acorns, etc and the woman told me it was a souvenir she got in England in the 60’s. I guess Crescent wasfairly aggessive in making deals for their figures to be included as premiums and on souvenirs. It is a very nice figure.

I am sure the Crescent Robin Hood on plaque you have is a souvenir. I have not seen that version, I am sure the woman was telling the truth. I was in Nottingham about 25 years ago and saw many different souvenirs that was made for the tourist market. I got many years ago a large Robin Hood which was sold at Nottingham.
