Family Time

011

We received the following from Brian McIver

We were having some family time the other day (Watching an old western movie) & the kids said! Dad can we play with your toy soldiers?

Now getting my 2 boys aged 10 & 11.5 away from there I pads, I pods, X, box’s & Nintendo ds is a miracle in itself, so we played a simple game with dice & a rule with the highest score on the dice winning the gunfight. They loved it! Even my wife thought it was great fun) This set me

To thinking about doing some figures for each of us. I looked at the figures here but wanted something a bit bigger & with a bit more character.

So a trip to my mother’s & here loft & I was reunited with my old Atlantic Western sets (Which had not seen the light of day for more than 25yrs).

I used to love these figures (even with their sometimes over size heads & poor weapon sculpts) I have all the Wild West sets (3 or 4 of some & 7 of the stampede sets with their impressive long horns) So I decided on the outlaws & sheriffs set (I only have 2 of these) As it would have what I needed.

For my figure I chose the Sheriff & my wife will be the lady with rifle. I painted these that day & what a joy they were to do. The kids have not decided which figure they will be (although the 2 masked robbers look favorite) I also forgot what a fantastic figure the cowboy being dragged by the horse is (will paint him next I think) I also started some scenic Items such as customized New-ray farmhouse & a TSSD out house. I am going to do a whole scenic set so we can have some fore family time. I will send pics when done.

Best Regards, Brian.

P.S. when I painted the lady my wife said something was missing (so I had to paint her nails with Polish)

  2. The hanged man should be in the game. What an iconic plastic figure.

The Atlantic figures are great, and I wish I had obtained more of them back when they were readily available — as opposed to now, when they are scarce and cost an arm and a leg. But those are great paint jobs, Brian.

Thanks Don, I am looking forward to painting more, The horse dragging rider figure & the hanged man been high on the list…………
