An Odd Figure

046Here is an odd figure I picked up somewhere. I am not sure it is a conversion or was done by a company.  I feel the pose is incorrect. The  figure is 54mm. What are your feelings?

awesome pose ! make a great Civil War conversion !

  2. greg liska says:

Looks to me like a conversion made of a Marx Marine. See how the neck is thin, almost non-existent and placed strangely. The rest looks well done. I can’t say for sure where all the parts came from.

  3. Mark says:

Right Greg, definitely has that Marx resemblance !

  4. ed borris says:

I think it’s at least part Marx Marine either getting shot or kneeling to reload his M1, could never tell what that pose was supposed to be, don’t recognize the legs, but looks to be a marx stand.

  5. ed borris says:

It almost looks like somebody cut off the Marines leg at the knee and grafted it on to another figures lower leg, other than that and a repositioning of the head he’s almost stock. I want to say it’s the lower leg of the Marine throwing the grenade underhand.

I think that the base is a Dulcop base, as are the legs. Dulcop has that distinctive slant on the edges of the base, so……….

The rest is the Marx army man ( sorry not into WW 2) but there is a pose with a soldier with the wepon in one hand that’s crouching down. The head is from a different army man.

  7. Bill Nevins says:

It’s either a Dulcop 7 th Cavavlrymen or Italian Bertiglieri (sic???) legs. Both have the same leg positioning.

I agree this is a conversion and a great concept for a pose – even if the anatomy has some shortcomings. I’ve definitely seen worse straight from the mold.

  9. ed borris says:

Well, it might be a Dulcop base, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a 7th cavalry base, I use them all the time for my conversions and they are usually thicker and they are rectangular not irregular like this one.

  10. Was not sure how or where to post this, but there are a lot of pictures of the WW2 prototypes on the X-force website. Cannot wait to see the finished figures. The poses are great. While I hope it will not be long until they do Late War G.I.’s and Germans, these will do for now.
    Four comments:
    1. I hope the finnished figures will have a more gritty look to them. These guys look a little too clean for guys that should be in combat for days on end.
    2. The tripod on the 30cal. mg. looks a little odd, it looks like it is raised too high.
    3. Love that they look like they are not wearing packs.
    4. Hope that there is more than one BAR man.
All in All, can’t wait to get my hands on them.

EF-I look at them and assume they are all prototype not last result.so far I agree with most in last comment.
Weapons are a bit odd in size and the ballonets(too long) on Germans and American look more Japanese type than later ww2 American/German blade
Many uniforms are very clean and well fit, not as regular combative soldier should be (like old Airfix, matchbox figures)that look like coming from a military parade ready for a fight.
Poses are very repeated of what we had seen later from Conte, tssd and others

On the good side ,Adrian helmet for French and colonial troopers look a great idea.
sculpt detail look great in general, bases are fine with me
For those prices they charge we should expect more perfection(my opinion)!!
Last I know they don’t care and will do what they want.LOL!!

  12. Bill Nevins says:

Ed, take a look at the Dulcop Italian figure running with a bugle. I’m pretty sure those are the legs.

The more the comments come in the more I have to agree it is conversion. I feel I got it in a junk lot as while I like conversions, the figure does not excited me. I look for a figure that is different. One conversion I have is union black soldier running with wounded confederate soldier. I will try to remember to photograph it.

    Bill,

Could be very well indeed. Probably a moot point we’ll never know for sure.
