Ed Borris passed this along on Mike Kutnick
Okay as you may know, Mike Kutnick was ill recently. He underwent quadruple bypass surgery last Thursday as is now on the road to recovery. The doctors all agree he is progressing well on his road to recovery. I spoke to him last night and he hopes to be moving out of ICU today, if all goes well I will pay him a visit tomorrow.
awesome ,congrats!!!!
Great news, thoughts and prayers out.
Mike still plans on joining me in Indy, so keep your fingers crossed.
Get well Mike !
This is great! I was going to ask you about this and the news is the very best one can hope!
I met Mike at the 2011 Texas show while over from the U.K. to meet up with my friend Gary Dutko. A nice chap as we would say. Just found this forum, Its pretty cool.
Brian
I am sure Mike is appreciating all words of good wishes.
Welcome tell your friends about my site as we have a lot of interesting discussions.
Ed, tell Mike we expect to see him in Indy even if he has to drag himself there on all fours!
Two years ago, Bill Skinner joined me in Chicago exactly one week after major surgery. He said he had been to every single OTSN since the first show 36 years ago, and wasn’t about to start missing one now.
Don,
He’ll be there, we plan on dragging him there no matter what.
Went and visited Mike today, he’s getting better, he still looks weak which is understandable. He is eating solid food and they have him walking now. So, I would say all the signs are positive. He has been cleared to go to Indy. If it was next week I don’t think he could go, but in 5 weeks he should be good enough to travel.
ED
I am sure everyone is glad to hear the news, everyone will give him a hearty welcome at Indy.
Update, MIke is going to spend another couple days in the hospital undergoing rehab. He should be home by Wednesday I would think, but nothing is guaranteed.
Additional update, Mike is supposed to be released from the hospital today.
Hooray! I knew from the beginning this would all turn out OK. Hopefully Mike will be back as good as new.
And for lack of a better place to post this, you can greet Mike with the good news that Barry Carter has just this morning now posted his Third Update of Confirmed Vendors to Indy April 10 – 12: John “Marxman” Stengel and Rick Keller have both added themselves to the confirmation list.
This adds to the other dealers who had already confirmed their attendance at Indy this year —- Francis Turner, Joseph Saine, Rick Eber, Gary Miller, Dan McLean, Rod Chapman, Allan Ford, Jim Clouse, and a host of others.
Indy is holding on to it’s advertised motto, “The Midwest’s SECOND LARGEST Show.” Room trading on Friday and Saturday before the actual Sunday show is, like at OTSN, well-established. The rooms and halls are going full bore by Friday evening.
With 44 days (I just counted) to go before my Friday morning departure, I can hardly wait.
Gosh, I hope he comes back better than he was. By the way we will be there, Jim Clouse, Mike Kutnick and I will be traveling together. Don McLean will he sing American Pie?
Please give Mike my best wishes. I have been a regular buyer of his on Ebay for a couple of years, and I just knew something was wrong when he was gone for such an extended time.
It’s always a pleasure to buy from him. He has great stuff, fair prices, and we work together well. Seems like he has a lot of good friends in toy world, which is awesome.
So, tell him Tom in Austin says “Howdy”.
Thanks.
Tom, could you please contact me at my email address. I sure could use your help with my current Ebay situation.
Thanks,Mike
I have an update on Mike, he spent his birthday in the hopsital. I spoke to him yesterday, he sounded much better and they were just about ready to send him home while we were speaking. It seem his Diabetes was affected by the medication they put him on after surgery. He had a Diabetic episode, so he went to ER and they admitted him overnight for observation, they have changed his medication regimine so he should be fine, just a minor blip on the screen of life.
Ed, please let Mike know that while he’s slowly but surely getting better, the Indy website has just posted it’s 4th Update of confirmed vendors, which now include, in addition to the earlier big name dealers we already listed (Turner, Eber, Ford, McLean, Clouse, Saine, Keller, Stengle), the names of Mike Hadley, Steve Connel, Gary & Sue Miller, Cal Luckett, William Weaver, Gary Guile, Larry Lovely, Bob Hornung, Paul Amody, and Rod Chapman have all confirmed. There are 40 confirmed dealers at this point. I spoke to Eric Koopmeiners by phone, and he said he’s still hoping to arrange his work schedule to be in attendance.
Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. And a special thanks to Ed for keeping you all updated. I am at home, doctor has taken me off one heart medicine because I am doing a lot better.I now longer have shortness of breath, I am taking 4 daily. walks in the house to build up my stamina and an in house nurse has has been seeing me three times a week. At this point all the doctors have cleared me for travel by end of April so Ed and I and Jim will be going together to Indy(have just reserved tables).
Mike
Good to hear you are at home. the key is building up you strength. the best thing for me was getting into the rehab program the hospital had. It help boost my confidence and get me to love exercising again. Just listen to your doctor and follow what they advise. You will have some life style changes they will be for the good.
There you go, from the horses mouth so to speak.
Way to go, horsey! Let hope the saying, ‘Healthy as a Horse’ will also apply. Stick with it, Mike! Hope the nurse is cute, too.
Great news! Hang tough!
