Denitz from Russia has posted on the French Forum two upcoming sets coming from Expeditionary Force to go with their Greek forces. They are Thracian tribal infantry and cavalry The picture above shows the Thracian tribal unarmored infantry. According to Denitz they often served as mercenary Peltasts, Peltasts were lite infantry used in skirmishing.
The second photo shows Thracian unarmored cavalry.. The cavalry was used by the Greek and Macedonian armies.
The last photo shows Thracian heads on a Greek Psiloi archer and Slinger for comparison.
These figures will be available from Denitz and others.
Great figures like always from this company:Thracian were used as mercenary /ally by Greeks and forced vassal by Persian invading forces during both Greece invasion too. They could be used as later classic period in the war with Roman republic and Empire too during roman annexation of Thracia and invasion of Dacia kingdom region. Excellent addition to the old ancient series.
Weren’t one of the fighting styles of the Gladiators Thracians?
Gladiator Tharcian(Thraex) style. Was a popular 1 -2nd centuries roman gladiator style were the gladiator was call like that as using a traditional later period Thracian shield(rectangular) not depicted on these figures as far I see and dacian curved blade called cica . Both weapon were varied Romanized version of original. The armor and weapon were popular on the time of roman conquest of Dacia. To entertain the people with game depicting the enemies of Roma at the time and advertising the wars.
The Thracian depicted armor/dress/weapon done on these figures are those from the 1-5 centuries BC with summer clothing by the way as they used bear/wolf bison covers leather on top as those from Germany on cold weather seasons. In my opinion they were made to match all same era Persian Greeks done by same company so far. But if not that historical could be used for any post or before centuries. In fact the Phrygian/Syrian hat-helmet it a match for philistine against the new Hebrew’s Russian figures done. Also similar to Trojans allies-the Phrygian.
