WOW ! They keep coming up with interesting sets with great subjects and poses not to mention excellent sculpting !

  2. Tom Black says:

Can’t keep up$$ with all these excellent sets by these Russian makers. They look like they will go well with the Ex Force Persians.

  3. If there was an annual toy soldier award for the most exciting company of the year,
I would have to give the award to ENGENEER BASSEVITCH !!
Especially because of the last two releases (CUBANS & JEWS)
These new HEBREWS will keep your TSSD Romans busy.

I just wish there were a major supplier here in North America and the price was about $25 a set.
I always buy them anyway but…….

I agree these are some of the nicest sets out there. I doubt you will see these sets any cheaper than what you see right now as the sets are done in low runs. So far no one from the United States has picked them up in quantities, I think partial due to the high cost. Who knows we may be surprise that one of major dealers has decided to get them.

  4. I spoke to Nick from TSSD after he came home from a show with limited quantities of Engineer Bassevitch sets.
I quickly ordered some sets and soon after they were ALL sold out.
Even he was surprised how fast they sold, proving there’s a market for those sets here in North America.
He told me he would start regularly stalking Bassevitch in the new year.
I think its a very wise move.

Steve Weston in posting on his site that he is supposed to have them late January to early February. He has full photos as well.

Yes; still the price anywhere is a big stop for most, only few of could afforest the high price per set plus shipping. Lets be honest. The figures and set are super great. Not doubts; but I still see more of a challenge to get then for most that an affordable new release set of plastic figures.

Erwin, I have to admit the cost has been a big factor in my avoiding these beautiful sets. As a matter of fact, there are several sets I’ve had to forgo because of it. I look at it like when I was a kid at Christmas, if I got EVERYTHING I wanted under the tree there would be nothing left to wish for…

  8. Greg Liska says:

Very well done and a great idea. The cost IS the killer, though. There isn’t really other Ancient Hebrews you could mix them with so, you need a lot of sets to make even a small force. I suppose some old Chariot figures might convert with a little work and then paint them the same color, but they are 54mm.
Did anybody notice the arrows are on the wrong side of the bow to actually shoot? A few early Marx Indians were done that way, too.

  9. erwin says:

With all respect and not to be a historical correction , neither to mean any offense or critic. An arrow could be easy shoot in the odd side of bow (non traditional arrow shot or odd arrow shot is called).Specially in composite bow like ones used by Mongolian, eastern Asian, some others too.
It is correct depicted and traditional copied from Persian/Babylonian wall images found at temples and antiquities jars/else as well .You may also see some you tube samples if type (Introducing and Shooting the Adult Bow and Arrow Set for Charity)No good for long shots but quick aim shot if in horses as well. American natives may had well used same way.
Also like to add that two sets were done about biblical wars/history,one painted with 12 biblical characters ,other call (David and Goliath play set) with 4 poses figures done in two colors armies and sold in cases back in early 90’s. The figures run 54 mm as far I recall,I do own both. These figures will go perfect with new Russian made. Last but not least my huge Spain reamsa/jecsan/oliver nativity 54 mm figures many in great action poses will match great too.

    • Greg Liska says:

The figures from David and Goliath are the ‘Chariot’ (brand name) figures I’m talking about. I’m thinking with a little work, some of the 60mm ‘Steven’s Hobbies’ Russian Knights figures could be converted, too.
I’m certainly not offended about the archery issue. It’s not my area of expertise. I’ve never heard of a bow being shot that way and it’s definitely not the norm, but I guess it can be done. I will look it up. Got a link to anything? Now I’m just curious about it.

  10. erwin says:

Greg: OK. Definitely you got good eyes and ideas ;as you are an expert on converting, many will go with if do your miracle cutting/glue job I bet. I think Russian and Arabs/Saracen from SH will go good. If the size could be match with increasing or decreasing the base. The new Russian figures if done same scale as previews are 54 mm not 60-65 mm. I do own all revolution sets and that is the size. Hope these new Hebrews are same!?. Also Russian knights and made in Russian two different sets, Saracen ,mongols from italeri could be converted,If historical accurate and to reduce time consuming. I think an figures with out leg /knee protection of previews mentioned could be more easy converted as most eastern and northern African ancient biblical warriors did not use the that part of armor. It was first introduced by Greeks/spartan later .I was hoping and know you will not get offended as ,is just like type it as prevention always as some times people tend to be if mentioned something is not in the knowledge. I’m my self a bow sportsman and had shot using replicas of composite bow in that way myself. I personally note it is common and easy in shot= fire repeated, still your thumb finger need to be position to direct the arrow in either way you place the arrow. Just type the words I mention and will see it. Contact me if like for more and also other figures 54 mm from European companies great for match/Hebrew figures of the new set coming from Russia. Best regards

  11. Tom Black says:

Wouldn’t the Ex Force Persians go with these Ancient Hebrews? Certainly if they are converted. Also the Ex Force Greek Archers and Slingers? Also didn’t Reamsa and Jecsan do Ancient Egyptians? Also mentioned on the TSSD future release section, they mention a new company that is coming out with Trojans and Bronze Age Greeks including Chariots in 2015. Don’t know if they will be 54mm or 60mm.

It has been some months since Nick posted that comment. My question is this new company making new molds or using old molds. The comment sounds like the old Atlantic molds. This is just speculation on my part. Can any one asked Nick of TSSD for more information?

  12. This is how I see it.
