I have always wanted to go to this show and always wanted to see quality painted military miniatures ( I think they probably look better and more impressive in person ) , Does anybody know if there will be any sort of painted military miniature exhibition ? or are they sprinkled in with everything else ? either way I am planning to try to make it !

Mark if your wife is bored with the show, there’s a big shopping mall right down the road.
    Bloomingdales and others.

I recommend to anyone who has never attended or to those of you who have, to please bring and invite as many friends and family as you can. This show is great just to see and enjoy everything. Those old enough will see what we had as children and enjoy the nostalgic moment. Others will find your own treasures and bargains. Though it is called a “toy soldier show”, it is for everyone. Please remember to mark your calendar because there are only two weeks left before this show. Everyone should attend in order to appreciate and help preserve our hobby. Remember this great show is only once a year

I think my wife will be fine, she likes antique toys and we have been to some toy shows in the past so she is familiar with my interest in toy soldiers and she will like the idea of just getting out

All this talk about the East Coast Toy Soldier Show makes me envious I can’t leave Michigan this November and attend it myself. I wish I could. My toy soldier collecting neighbor, Jack Eagan, who always attends Chicago, went to the East Coast Show last year, for the first time, just to try it out and to be able to say he had been, and thought it was just great. This year he says he’s going to try out the West Coaster. Obviously, he has ample funds to be able to devote this much time and expense to attending all the great toy soldier shows, from one end of the country to the other. He’s also been to the San Antonio, Gettysburg, and Marx Museum shows over the past few years.

I know how excited I am when Chicago and Indiana show times approach, so I’m hoping you East Coasters are experiencing the same toy soldier show time high now that November is almost here.

I have a show this weekend, not your typical toy soldier show, but the Kane County Antique Toy Show. It is always an interesting show, typically the sellers have no idea what they have and they either want incredible fees or they are almost giving stuff away. We will be mainly be repping TSSD and Paragon, but should have some of our own items on hand. Just watch out for the Stormtroopers and Boba Fett, they are usually stalking the food court. Keep your hand away from Chewbaca, he bites.

Just got back from the ,bought some books and magazines for a good prices 4 Toy Soldier Model figure magazines,a book called Napoleon on campaign classic images of Napoleon at War,a book called the Art of War by Martin Van Creveld (good pictures) a couple Osprey Campaign books on Philadelphia 1777 and the other Trenton and Princeton. I saw some Vikings swoppets similar to Timpo but I don’t believe they were Timpo,I think the bases had straight lines and were a darker green, they do not seem to be Elastolin either I just looked at them quickly so I didn’t look closely for a brand name on the base (now I wish I had ) they were nice, maybe someone else happened to see the figure I’m talking about and might be able to recognize the maker (Italian ?) Had a pretty good time, very Windy for my wife driving though ,I would like to go back next year !

Mark, I’m glad to read this first report of the show. Since it was your first time, glad you enjoyed it.

Stad, I’m eagerly awaiting your own detailed show report. I’m especially interested in whether John Stengle Jr. had actual product for sale of his Viet Cong, Green Berets, Normans, Saxons, WWII German paratroops, etc.? Before OTSN, he told TSSD he would have product at OTSN. At OTSN, he had prototypes, but no product. He seemed confident he would have it by late October.
