We have checked again to see how things are going at OTSN. Our sources reported that sells were starting off slow on Saturday but were picking up as the days progress. Yesterday sales were good for some people not for others.
We have heard that the Barzso Coliseum pieces are nice. With four pieces you can do a small coliseum to have gladiators fight in. With eight pieces of the coliseum, you can do a coliseum for chariot racing. Barzso also had his gladiators and Roman citizens for sale. I will have a set of each coming and will do pictures to show you what they look like.
Austin Miniatures has finally arrived and has started to sell their new U.S. Marines. Likewise Paragon was in with their Alamo figures.
We got more on the new Marxmen figures that we will see coming out. First according to the posting done by Gary over at Treefrog forum we have finally got a breakdown of the figures being done by Marxmen. Gary stated that there with be an eight figure set of Viet Cong, a three or four green beret figure set, four falcshenjagers figures (WWII German paratroopers), a couple of mounted Norman figures and a Saxon figure. All figures will compatible in size and color to other figures such as those done by TSSD and Conte. Sets are limited to runs of two hundred per set The figures should be available late October in time for Hackensack.
John Stengel has not only sculpted the figures he also making the figures himself. I am hearing he is using a low gravity method pouring the plastic into the molds.
Tomorrow is the show and we will start hearing reports on the show early next week.
All will be compatable in size and color to current plastic, Conte, etc. He is doing limited runs of 200 per set. They should be available at the end of October, He did all the sculpting and he will manufactor the sets. If this works out VietNam USMC should be next. As with all plastic I,m on a wait & see basis, but it sounds as if he has got his —- together.
TSSD had sold all but six [ out of a case lot] of their new WW2 Germans and had sold all but 35 bagged sets [ out of two case lots] of their new Mexican Lancers and only had three boxes left out of their 16 [ two each of eight different boxed sets Steve Weston reported that he sold out of set number eight by Saturday and also the new Replicant mounted Norman set and the new Robin Hood [ set number# 3]
Gene from Paragon reported that he sold his entire Fort Apache with the the three new pieces to some lucky collector the day of the show and he did ” very well”with his new Alamo defenders [ first public offering of these figure sets].
I roomed with Ed Borris; our Thursday sales were very good, Friday not so good, Sat. a little bit better [ especially for Ed, a fellow collector bought 50 of his ” Alamo” conversions] and on Sunday we had our best OTSN sales ever!
Mike
