Greg Liska is looking for Marx 60mm Cavalry that are either damaged or reissues. Here is what he said:
I am looking for the mounted poses and the kneeling firing. I bet you could have guessed that. If anybody finds any of the poses cast in grey or tan, I’d be interested in them, too. I’d seen the pistol firing mounted pose in recast, not sure of the sword pose, but if one was done, I’m pretty sure the other was. I’m looking for about 3 of each pose. If others poses show up in a lot, I’d take them too, but there has to be some of the desired poses in it.
The reissues of the 60mm were only done in blue.
So if you can help let us know and I will pass along your email to Greg.
I’ve had the re-cast firing pistol riding pose , but I’ve never seen the mounted with sword in re-cast. I will have some re-casts as well as damaged 60mm cavalry in Chicago at OTSN if you are going. I have damaged, metallic blue, powder blue and tan, not sure of the poses. I know I have two damaged tan buglers and one kneeling firing rifle pose in powder blue, I’m pretty sure I have at least one damaged in tan kneeling firing pistol too, maybe even one in poder blue.
Well, if the damaged guys are good and cheap, I’m up for the challenge of making them whole again and saving them from Plastic Limbo.
Paul emailed me before I even knew this was posted and I was confused by his offer, but he said he’d pick them up. I had hoped to go to OTSN this year, but now it’s shoulder surgery for me. My pre-op on the day I was supposed to leave. Any broken mounted figures? Any kneeling firing? I’d pay for one good metallic blue kneeling firing in good shape if broken ones can’t be found.
While I’m at it; I could use some heads off of Timmee ACW guys to take Kepis from and lastly: 54mm 7th Cav recasts in metallic blue. Thanks for responding. Paul – thanks for posting this.
Let me add: DAMAGED Timmee ACW figures! I don’t want to cut up anything that’s collectible yet. Just noticed you DO have a damaged kneeling firing. Great news!
One last addendum: I’d still like a good metallic blue kneeling firing rifle to go with the broken guys. I believe that would fill out the requirements except maybe for mounted guys.
I bought a couple of boxes of the old original MarxMen reissues from England from John Stengle many years ago and the mounted officer with sword was included. These came in a white home made box of 25 or 50 that said MarxMen on it . I got boxes of the 60 MM ACW figures, in both colors, the same way. These were the Warriors of the World poses. Anyway I got 2 of the pose both with broken swords. In fact, all of the mounted poses came broken in one way or another.
John also had small bags of Marx 25 mm AWI, ACW, Cowboys and others from the English Marxmen. These were not the ones that you see on gift shop blister cards.
They were run in very small quantities as tests, I guess, because they never showed up for sale, as far as I know. Stad may know more.
I used to really enjoy going to John’s house. He always had interesting test shots and odd colors and he was good about sharing what he had with me. I look forward to seeing him and his family at the Freeport show this year. Last year didn’t work out to well, as the show site was undewater at the time. Sandy.
I’d gotten a lot of my 60mm WoW ACW from ATS. I’d also gotten my 60mm Cav guys from him. I’d gotten of the ACW guys direct from the seller in the UK.
I’ll check all my broken figures, I think I have some short rifles on the kneeling firing rifle guy in metallic blue, I do have one damaged in powder blue. I have good ones too, good ones cost though even in metallic blue, I usually ask $30.00 for him, but I’ll let you have one for $25.00. ( kneeling firing rifle at one time you could get $40.00 for him) I have a complete matched set in a nicer metallic blue that I’ll let you have for $125.00. I think all my mounted figures are mint, but I’ll look.
Greg,
Weren’t you at the Texas show? I think we may have met, but I’m terrible with names. I was working the table for TSSD with Mike Kutnick.
Ed –
First off, thanks for this. I’ll take all the damaged guys you have. I love the idea of getting back ‘into the fight’ where they would otherwise have been thrown out or end up as conversion fodder. I’m hoping for all you mentioned there. Paul just emailed me what you have for sure. I hope you find the others.
I didn’t go to the TX show. When I get back to the US (I’m gone every other year) I don’t like to travel much at all. OTSN was going to be a big deal for me, but now it looks like somebody needs to get out an exacto knife and do some work on ME! This has also delayed my departure and I lost out on a contract. I’m scratching around for another now.

Somehow, that posted twice. Sorry. Let me add: any broken Timmee or Lido ACE for cutting off Kepis would be very helpful, too. Thanks again!
I told Paul I have a bunch of heads from my conversions with kepi hats that I will throw in for no charge with the damaged guys. If you can use them fine, if not do what you will with them. I think most are 54mm Marx, but there some Imex and Accurate heads too. Some may work for your plans. I have no need for them.
I know I mt someone named Greg, I wonder who he was?
Great, Ed! If it’s convenient for you and you’re sure you’ve got it all, give me a run down of what you come up with in the broken cav figures department for my planning purposes. I guess at some point or another, we’ll need to talk Dollars. Did you say you might have recasts, too? Mounted recasts, as well? I wasn’t sure if that was a past tense thing or that you bought them (got them) and still have them.
So Greg, what are your plans for these figures? Give us a hint?
I used Conte and TSSD Heads on some of my repop 60 mm 7 th Cav and the results were pleasing. I’ve also cut some in half to make mounted guys using TSSD legs.
So??????
What do those mounted guys look like? Got pics?!
It’s quite a bit less adventurous than that. All I want is one set complete in metallic blue to go with my Stetson wearing dismounted cav, one set in metallic blue in all kepis for my dismounted cav wearing kepis and one set in grey for my Confederates. This is just scratching one of those inexplicable collector / converter itches. I love the idea of rescuing vintage soldiers from the scrap pile and I don’t mind cutting up recasts, either. I sort of have a representative dismount group for each of my 3 cav ‘regiments’. They fought dismounted at least half the time, so I need enough figures. I think the bugler figure (who is almost always missing his bugle) would make a good horse holder.
I do have some recasts, none mounted, none kneeling firing rifle. I have two each of the other poses and one with bugle for a total of 9 guys.
Greg LISKA wanted figures/others,
