You better get your check book out or get a loan if you want to buy this EBay seller’s Captain Gallant Display Board.
If your interest is Susy Goose Friendly folks Supermarket the seller has it for sale.
I would disagree with the seller that the Susy Goose Supermarket is the rarest playset in the world. Do you agree or disagree.
We thank Floyd for this information.
This nut ALWAYS as these crazy prices. Don’t think he ever sells this stuff but sure spends money listing.
Andy
Looking at his last fifteen days, he has not sold anything that I can see. In the last month he has sold 4 items. In the last six months at least 65 plus items. Most of his sales are best offer.
Just proves PT Barnum was right – there IS a sucker born every minute (or maybe four a month, if ebay is the guide…). I would imagine his “Best Offers” are much lower than his asking price, but hey – shoot for the moon… right?
He does have quite a bit of what appears to be rare, quality items — like his MIB Big Ceasar, also listed at $25,000.
Still, there some idiots with money out there paying way over for “THESE RARE” items. It is incredible how much money is in the hand of so few who waste and none in hand of those who can produce good new toy soldiers/else for our hobby!!!I should do an offer for the sake of …. Even so I will not pay any at all to this Crow/clown!
We cold NEVER make this stuff up!!!!
First off – those are ‘fool’s prices’ and second; I’m not sure I believe it. What’s the deal with the cavalry horse with the base on it? I don’t know anything about CPT Gallant sets, but that horse and base looks suspicious to me. Can anyone enlighten me? Am I wrong?
Greg
In regards to the cavalry horse having a base on the Captain Gallant Display Board, that is correct. Marx found they had to put bases on the horses so they would look right on the board. I have had examples of the 45mm Indian pony done that way
Greg ,
In the past I have owned some Marx Captain Gallant store display pieces ( nothing as nice and as complete as this ) one of those was a Captain Gallant camel which had what appears to be the same base, I believe I purchased it with a Captain Gallant set from Jim McGough in the 90’s,so I’m assuming at least for Captain Gallant this appears to might have been a standard addition ?
Mark
Dang! 25k doesn’t even get you free shipping!
It does have those chocolate brown Arabs though, they are a very desirable item for some people. Not me, but some people. As a kid I wouldn’t have put this set very high on my want list , too many standing pawing the dirt guys.
What bugged me is the walls are WAY TOO small for a decent fort!!
Brian
I agree with you. Marx reused the walls, towers and the gate from their castle playset. The building is the Alamo box minus the chapel top. I read an article years ago, that Marx was thinking of doing Foreign Legion playset and licensed Captain Gallant. The show was set in the present day, but the Legionnaires are wearing 19th century clothing. If you would want modern day foreign Legion, you would have to go to Starlux.
Well, I have learned something about display boards. NOT 25K worth of knowledge, though.
As to that fort, Brian – You can get the gate and other plastic pieces in recast (still, I think) and make a far better set of walls out of 1/4” plywood. I did one for a friend and I’m kind of sorry I didn’t do one for myself now. I never had and don’t now do, any FFL and Arabs scenarios, but that can change, I guess.
Greg
It did not cost you anything. when I see display boards I think of the time Hess’s Department Store had a clean up and sold the display board for a dollar each I did not get any as they were already taken In a way I am glad as I have no room for one of those display boards.
I buy el cheapo T-Cohn Ft Superior Walls when I can find some on Evilbay and paint them grey to use for situations like the Cpt Gallant Fort.
I laughed about no free shipping on 25K, that price is crazy as it is. Everyone is watching it to see if anyone is crazy enough to buy it.
I once had a store convinced to sell me an Untouchables display board for $5.00, unfortunately I couldn’t ride the bus with that board so I passed. Just as well, I would have gotten home and pried all the figures off the board. I mean I was like 11 at the time, what else would a kid do? Did I realize that 50 years later I could ask an outrageous price for it and have people make fun of me? Of course not.
