Unknown Foreign Legion Figure

I recently picked up this Foreign Legion Figure.  The figure is 3 inch tall. My first thought it might be Lido, but the position is wrong. At the moment I have no idea who made it do you?

  1. I think it is Lido, just a variation of the 45mm pose. Lido also made a 3 inch mounted Zorro and two Davy Crocketts also mounted.

      Kent
When I bought the figure, the party had the figure on a Payton horse which was wrong. The party had a white horse in the lot of figures similar to the gray horse you have picture with the Lido three inch Civil War figures. So it could be a Lido figure which is interesting that we are still finding figures from our childhood.

It certainly has that Lido look.

I happen to have that figure– even in the same color. I don’t have a horse for him. I’ve always assumed it was a Lido, because the sculpting and posing seemed so identical to that company.

Incidentily, I’ve been waiting for Ed Borris to resurface on this site since getting back from the Texas Show. The TSSD website says Ed and his partner (whose well-known name temporarily escapes me) had to take over the operation of the show when Nick and Deanna unexpectedly couldn’t attend). Is this true, Ed? Did you enjoy the experience? Please give us a bit of a report on the show, which I haven’t heard much about yet.

Yes, Ed and I covered the show for Nick and Deanna. Had a lot of fun, met old friends and made some new ones. We lost out on some nice playsets but did find another Alamo playset in a Nostalgia Playset box with about 182 Conte’ figures in it, 12 TSSD Mexicans, 12 TSSD defenders, CTS Mexican cavalry and a CTS tin Alamo church all for a very reasonable price. We sold for TSSD the new EF Persians, the EF Greeks, the new TSSD WW2 2 story destroyed building, a form tech painted Western streetfront, two Western sheds, bags of TSSD figures, a couple bags of Austin Gunfighters, Barzso Civil War cannons and artillery crews and a bunch of Conte’ boxed Zulu’s and 24th foot. Ed found a very nice Pecos davy Crockett with all his accessories [ except for his rifle] at a very fair price. Weather was good, just some light sprinkles early Sunday morning, crowds were good, sales were good, what more could you ask for?

That show is always fun for me, heck anytime I get to drink with John Wayne it’s a hoot.

I didn’t do much shopping, busy manning the tables for TSSD and I helped Bill Murphy set up too.

Just my observation but the show seems to be turning towards more of a metal show. Many of the noted plastic dealers do not attend, although there is a plentiful supply of plastic available from seemingly local dealers.

Saturday the show was really busy right up to closing, but Sunday was pretty slow. No one had anything new and exciting, but I did get to see the XForce Persians and Greeks up close and they are very impressive figures. Local dealer Gary Beadel seemed to have everything priced to sell and he sold most of what he had to offer. Nights were spent at Ernie’s drinking with all the boys and the conversations were lively. Drinking with three authors is always interesting, throw in a couple re-enactors and you have a real lively group. We of course worshipped at the Alamo by taking up a perch on the wall and had our usual arguements reagrding our differences in opinions. All in all a good time.
