Cofalu French Sailors

cof1

Years ago I sold from my very good friend Michael Smith various Cofalu figures that he had gotten run on the island of Mauritius.  The models had been left there by Cofalu and were taken  over the company in the Mauritius that had done the molding for Cofalu. Sadly the molds were left outside and destroyed.

One of the figures that Cofalu did were French Sailors. These figures were copies of the Marx 6 inch U.S. Army figures downsize to 70mm. The figures were changes to French sailors but you can see the original Marx poses. Until now I had never seen the original figures and how they were painted These figures turn up in a junk box and I believe they are the original painting.  I will be checking with some French collectors in the coming days to get it confirmed if I am right or not.

Thanks for Mathias for confirming they are original Cofalu. Since I had never seen these figures in their original version I was unsure. It is interesting they turned up in the states I am surprise what I find here.

I have won a lot of these figures on EBAY. Did not know who had made them. I thought they looked like Marx american figures.
