October 2024 Odds Ends Trying to Catch Up, first, I have a few more photos from the Gettysburg Toy Soldier Show. One of the photos shows a rare color variation for the Marx 60mm Cavalry figure.
October 2024 Odds Ends A Few More Photos
Mark Hegeman is known for his fantastic Marx collection. Mark has searched for rare and unknown Marx figures and variations.
One of Mark’s latest finds is a color variation of the Marx 60mm cavalry figure from Canada. He said they were sold in a figure bag with the rin Tin Tin Character figures.
Marx Instruction Army Sheet
I found a partial Marx instruction sheet. I found it interesting they showed how to put the stretcher team.
Here is how to put the cot together.
October 2024 Odds Ends Interesting Figures
Trying to get the basement in order I found this civilian figure. What surprised me was the “V” sign he was making in his left hand as that is a negative sign in the UK. The pose makes me wonder who made him and what his purpose was. Update Barrie Blood sent this to me Paul the two-finger sign is the sign for V for Victory. When it is reversed does it become a derogatory sign. Or a sign asking for two pints
I tell people to make the playsets your way not what a manufacturer did. the Lone Star Native with a torch would be a great addition to any jungle setup.
I have been blessed to have received some great figures from friends. One of them is Peter Evans who does great conversions such as the one above.
Finally, I was given these figures today at the Delaware Toy Show. The question is who made them? The figures are 90mm. The lot has two soldiers with pistols. One is a fixed arm while the other is a movable arm. Update Andre Buslov said these figures are DDR conversions.
Show Time
October is a busy month for shows. On Saturday I did the Allentown Paper show. While figures due pop up ( I passed on a lot of Tom Corbett figures as I have enough right now.) I do look for other items for my Ebay Listings. This time I got various gum cards and two comic books for myself. I was able to sell some items for Sherri to a friend.
As mentioned before my fun is seeing old friends especially if I do not figure out meeting them at the show. The first two were John Lamana and Kevin Zimmer. They are two toy collectors I knew when they were just starting. I kidded John on buying something as he usually just looks. I will see them at the Allentown Toy Show along with another friend Daniel Roebuck. Dan will be there Friday only as has to be at a toy show in Maryland on Saturday. My next surprise was to see Cathy Kozlowski, the widow of Richard Kozlowski. She lost her husband two years ago and I lost a great friend.
Sunday was the Delaware Toy Show. This show is only two hours away and has different dealers to look at for buys. This time it was a little disappointing as some of my regular sources were not there and there was an overabundance of action figures. Still, I found some items that made the trip worthwhile.
On friends, I miss seeing Tom Hill who is in the foreground of the first photo of this section with my friend Gerry Watts. Tom bought a lot of Marx action figures and six-inch figures in the above photo.
Tom dresses up at shows as ManasquanBatman at the shows which is great enjoyment for people. Here is Tom in his Batman suit with another friend Chris Lamont from a different show. Hopefully, I will catch Tom at another show.
The figure with the V sign is actually doing a V for victory. The fingers have to be the other way round for a swear sign. The three figures in white I thought could be Star Wars
copies turned into ww2 Germans.
Paul the two finger sign is the sign for V for Victory. When it is reversed does it become a derogatory sign .Or a sign asking for two pints .
Thanks for the update, I post that comment as I remember going to an auction near me an the auctioneer from the UK. He got upset when people put up two fingers.
The civilian figure is by Boley from the mechanical repairs set that comes with many more poses and accessories plus vehicles .From 1990 and early 2000s
Thanks for the information.
i think the LS african pose has a fire torch not a knife …?
Thanks for the correction.
Paul, two comments: 1. where did Mark find that shirt? 2. i’m not a native Brit, but it was my understanding the V signal was only considered rude if the back of the hand was facing forward, towards the viewer.
Extended 2 fingers supposedly started at the Battle of Agincourt where the French said they would cut off the fingers of any English Archers they captured, after the English smacked the French they showed them they still had their fingers!!God for Harry England and Saint George!!
Looks like it worked at the battle of Patay and battle of Baugé!!
