August 2024 Figures Galore Cody March Painted
I have been showing test shots of Cody March’s knights. One of my friends, Peter Evans, painted one of the unpainted figures to show how they looked when sold. Michael Mordaunt Smith has told me he will be doing the figures in other colors than just black. The figures he will be releasing in the future will be 54mm. We will keep you posted.

There are some figures I wondered why a company made them. A case in point is the Marx birds. According to Kent Sprecher, the figures were sold in polka dot boxes and on blister cards.
Elastolin did this campfire which you can connect to a battery to light up a stimulated campfire.
Timpo did Cossacks. The problem is they are the most fragile Timpo solids of this era. As you can see the scabbards on two of the figures. Some Timpo Cossacks have surfaced in black instead of red. The reports are they are fakes.
This is one of Lafredo’s large-foot knights. The figure is 90mm and was done in 1962. There are six different poses. They also did a smaller 54mm which was copies of the British Swoppet knights done as solids. This information is from Juan Herimada’s new books on Spanish plastic. He has done three books divided by type which I will review soon. Also, I have purchased some early Spanish Plastic which I will be share with you as well.
Finally, does anyone know why Marx did this Confederate in bright red?
Health Update
On August 16, I was back in the hospital for another Blazon. As I mentioned before I have Ab Fib. While the previous Blazon worked for a while my Ab Fib came back. I arrived for my procedure and after two hours of preparation, I went in for the procedure. I returned three hours later to recover. I am feeling fine but under some restrictions. I will be at Gettysburg so I hope to see you there.
Could the Marx figure be a test shot? It doesn’t look like the multi-colored figures Mexico made, the plastic was more solid IIRC.

Yes, the Cossacks are fragile. The chap with the barrel is a classic. Be in good health. Thanks for all your work on this.

I think that some of the Marx birds were designed to clip onto the top rail of their fences. They are very small and would present a choking hazard, so not something that would be marketed these days.
I have some of the Timpo Cossacks and they are very brittle. I should probably glue them back together and make rubber moulds of them. Then cast resin or tin copies to paint up.
I also have some very brittle Timpo American Indians (Now referred to as the First Nations, as they were here first). They are good sculpts and it’s too bad they became so brittle. I think Toyway re-issued them.
I think that bright confederated is just a Plasty-MARX made in Mexico from 1980/90s .The Lafredo knights were made in 2 scale version in 1961 and even copied by others ,they are base in Britain Herald poses but very different in armor and weapons detail and some poses .I been looking for them to complete the 54 mm range sets ,the horses and mounted poses are superior to Herald poses in my opinion .I had 3 full sets of Timpo solid ,after years storaged i found out they start to crumble and cracked in parts several ,i ended selling rest sets off .Not worth keeping figures one day will disintegrate.I will in future scan clone them in 3D resin as well with others .
