German Adventure Final Report Friendship, after the German Plastic Show there was one more thing before Markus got me back to the Frankfurt Airport. That was visiting Peter Bergnder at his home for a meal and looking at some more items for resale and the collection.
German Adventure Final Report Peter Bergner’s Place
On the last day in Herne, we went to a bargain store and got me an extra piece of luggage to carry my goodies. From there we headed to Peter’s place for a meal and looked at figures for sale. Peter and his wife Ute bought a farmhouse 17 years ago and Peter did the remodeling. This was my first time there as Laurie and I stopped traveling to Germany for various reasons.
We went up into Peter’s inner sanctum where he has his collection. Peter collects Playmobil one of his displays is Asterix. Asterix is not in the U.S. Playmobil catalog but you can get their piece on Ebay. I did not look at the rest of his collection which includes Timpo, etc. due to time.

The reason was I had 18 trays of junk figures to go through. I did eleven trays before I quit. Markus and I went through his regular boxes and found a few more treasures including the Timmee color variations in the above photo. We went down to the main floor and had the goulash that Peter had made. It was to sit with Peter, his wife Ute Peter’s stepdaughter, and Markus for a family meal. The time went quickly and before we knew it was time to leave. Before we left Ute took a picture of Peter, Markus, and me. I will treasure that day.
Frankfurt and Home
The next day Markus took me to the airport where I had a reservation at the Sheraton. After I checked in we found a Bavarian restaurant to have a final meal together before saying goodbye.
I headed to my room and relaxed. After breakfast at the hotel, I checked out and headed to United. On the way to United, I passed six policemen blocking an area off because of an unattended knapsack. I moved quickly from that area. I found where United was and checked in.
The flight was fine and we landed nearly on time. Sherri picked me up and we stopped at the Clinton Station Diner. This place has a wide variety of foods. One thing they are noted for is their various cheesecakes. Sherri took two different cheesecakes home.
Thoughts
What made this trip so worthwhile was the friendships some were old friends and others were new. These were more important that the figures I got.
Glad you enjoyed your time here. It’s great that Markus took care of you and organized a lot and had appointments for you. Respect…
